"My mobile charges slowly and discharges quickly", "It discharges at night and charges slowly", "The battery discharges very quickly"… Although it may seem like a rare problem, the truth is that it is more frequent than it seems. The solutions depend on the origin of it. And it is that after all, they are two completely independent problems that require a different solution. We have compiled several of these solutions for the problem in question before calling for a specialized technical service.
If the mobile charges slowly…
There is no one-size-fits-all solution if the phone is charging slowly or the charging speed is excessively slow. In general, the problem usually comes from the charging connector, the battery or the charger itself, as we will see below.
Check the charging speed with Ampere
Before tackling the load problems we will have to resort to the Ampere application. This tool allows us to know the charging speed in amperes of the phone in real time. After granting the relevant permissions, Ampere will show us the actual loading speed.
Ideally, the figure should range between 1,000 Ah and 2,000 Ah if our phone has fast charging. It can also reach 3,000 and even 4,000 Ah. In this case, it is advisable to keep the application open so that it monitors all the loading process. If the average is below 1,000, the problem is likely with the cable or charger.
Change the charger and cable for a quality one
A good way to check that the problem comes from the cable and the charger is to connect both components to another phone. If the speed is load is similar, the problem arises precisely from these two elements. The best thing is always to resort to official accessories or products from recognized brands, such as Anker or Aukey.
Clean the mobile USB connector
It may be the case that the USB connector has a speck of dust or dirt that prevents the correct charging of the device. To clean the connector we will have to use a toothbrush with soft bristles moistened with isopropyl alcohol, a type of alcohol that we can find in hardware stores.
At the time of cleaning we will have to turn off the mobile yes or yes to avoid short circuits. We can also use a wooden toothpick if we do not have some of the elements that we have just mentioned.
If the battery drains quickly…
The problem is most likely directly from the battery module. Before attributing this inconvenience to the degradation of the battery, we can use a couple of methods to solve it.
Install GSam Battery Monitor to see system consumption
It may be the case that certain applications are lagging battery power through background processes. To know this consumption in more detail, we can turn to GSam Battery Monitor, an application that gives us a complete graph of the applications, the mobile network, the screen and the CPU.
After installing the application and enabling the necessary permissions, it is recommended to keep it in the background for a couple of load cycles. Finally we will resort to the metrics of the tool to know the origin of the problem. The mobile network, a nested Android process, Facebook notifications.
Restore the phone completely
If the excessive consumption comes from a nested Android process or we are simply unable to identify the source, the last step before changing the battery is to completely restore the device. In general, we will have to resort to the Reset option that we can find in Settings.
