For some time now, dozens of users have been reporting a problem that is related to videos recorded with the phone's camera. Android does not seem to play videos from Gallery even if they come from the internet or external sources. It is not a very common error in Android, but it seems to have spread to different models and brands of telephony, such as Huawei, Xiaomi or Samsung. This time we have compiled several methods to solve the errors of the Gallery in the system.
Clear data and cache from Android Gallery
It may be the case that the Gallery application has conflicted with the system. To solve this error we can delete the data and the application cache.
In general, this process is as simple as referring to the system settings. In the Applications section we will click on the Gallery application. Finally we will click on Storage and finally on the options Clear cache and Clear storage, as we can see in the upper screenshot.
Do the same with the Camera app
If the playback problem persists or occurs in the videos recorded with the mobile camera, the next thing we will have to do is replicate the previous method in the Camera application.
The steps to follow are practically identical, except that this time we will have to choose the Camera application to delete the data and the cache of the instance on Android.
Use an alternative Camera or Gallery app
A temporary solution that we can apply to play the videos from the phone gallery is to use an alternative application. If the problem comes from the Camera application, we can use a third-party application. In the Play Store there are dozens of applications of both types. It is advisable to test application by application to verify the operation of each one.
Transfer the video to another device
It is not a solution to use, but it will help us to detect possible problems with the phone with the recording and playback of videos. Ideally, you should transfer the videos to a computer and play them from the computer in question.
If they have any formatting errors or just can't be played, the phone memory is probably corrupting the files. It can also be due to a possible conflict with the mobile camera or even an encryption virus. The solution in all cases is to format the phone completely, as we will see below.
Restore the phone completely
The most drastic and effective solution is to restore the phone to factory settings. Depending on the phone model and version of Android, this process may differ.
In general, we will have to resort to Settings / System / Restore to reset all the settings. If we want to preserve the old files we can make a backup copy through the system options. Once we have formatted the phone, it is recommended to update the system to the latest version available. MIUI, EMUI, Samsung One UI…
