We are going to review the most interesting features of this new Xiaomi Redmi 6, a perfect example of what Xiaomi mid-range can give of itself. After seeing its price and its purchase channels, we will proceed to determine if it is worth buying this or any of the other models of the brand, taking into account the relationship between price and quality of benefits.
The new Xiaomi Redmi 6 can be obtained from today and associated with a fee in the Movistar operator. The model offered by the operator is 64 GB of internal storage and can be obtained with, for example, rate # 1.5 (phone only) for 22.30 euros per month for 24 months, paying at the end a total of 200 euros or cash for a price of 180 euros.
Having the data on the table, we are going to answer the following question. Is it worth buying the new 64GB Xiaomi Redmi 6 for 180 euros ? Let's see what this phone offers.
What will we get by buying the Xiaomi Redmi 6?
On the one hand, we have a 5.45-inch screen (not very big, an aspect in favor for those who have a phobia of current screens) and an HD + resolution, because it has little pronounced frames. The design is neither better nor worse than others from the Chinese house of Xiaomi, it is sober and continuous, without fanfare. Remember that it is a terminal of less than 200 euros.
The camera is one of the most interesting aspects of this terminal, considering its price. The main camera consists of two 12 + 5 megapixel sensors with a focal aperture of 2.2, LED flash, phase detection autofocus, HDR and panoramic modes. As for the front camera we have a 5 megapixel camera and Full HD recording. Although in good light conditions the camera will comply, also offering a portrait effect, when night falls or in low light the user should not expect much.
As for the processor, the news is not very encouraging. We see a Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 with eight cores, with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz. Not that it is a poor quality processor but we will always prefer Snapdragon positions to ask for performance and optimization. It is accompanied by 3 GB of RAM and two storage options, 32 and 64 GB.
As for the rest of the specifications, nothing new under the sun of the entry range, mid-range, of the Xiaomi brand. We see FM Radio, microUSB connection, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and WiFi, etc. Its battery reaches 3,000 mAh (nothing special, by the way) and when we turn it on we will see that it has Android 8 Oreo installed, with an update to Android 9 Pie in the future.
Is this Xiaomi Redmi 6 worth buying?
Short answer: no. Long answer: paying 160 euros for a phone like the Xiaomi Redmi 6 is not crazy, especially if you are going to use the mobile for the basics but, even so, you ask for something more, especially in the photographic aspect. Of course, when we place it next to other similar terminals, especially if they are from the same brand, it pales in comparison. For example, we have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 on Amazon for 20 euros more and we will get 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, a Snapdragon 636 processor, a larger 4,000 mAh battery and a double main camera with a larger focal aperture (1, 9).
If 20 euros are vital for you, buy the Xiaomi Redmi 6. But we firmly believe that for 180 euros the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is much more worth it or, if you aim a little higher in terms of camera and you don't care so much the battery, you can go for the Xiaomi Mi A2 for 200 euros.
