Less than half a year is what it took OnePlus to renew its seventh numerical generation of smartphones. The company has just presented the OnePlus 7T, a renewal that although it comes to update part of the components of its flagships, it seems somewhat inopportune if the We compare with the models launched in the middle of the year, especially if we take into account the tiny margin of time that separates the two terminals.
Unlike the models presented in May, this time it is the base model that receives part of the technical improvements released by the 7 Pro and which now take a step forward compared to the 7. Will it be more than an update components or will it follow the course of its predecessor models? We see it.

The camera as the main bet on OnePlus
Among the few novelties that we find in the new generation of OnePlus, one of the main ones has to do with the photographic section. And is that while the company maintains part of the technical characteristics seen in the 7, the OnePlus 7T releases a new camera and lens.
Roughly, the terminal integrates the same sensor with a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens as the OnePlus 7 Pro, a 16-megapixel sensor with up to 117º of field of view that is now compatible with the night mode of the Camera application. Another change that comes with the new generation is based on the integration of a 12 megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens with two optical magnifications. Recall that the original OnePlus 7 has a secondary sensor that does not integrate optical zoom.
Beyond these changes, the differences with respect to the past generation are non-existent. In short, the OnePlus 7T has the same 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, which makes us assume that the improvements will be rather minimal. Perhaps the most notable novelty is that the terminal now has a macro mode capable of capturing images of objects at short distances: at 2.4 centimeters specifically. This characteristic comes from the hand of the wide-angle sensor, so the focus is determined by the quality of the focus rather than the lens itself.
The rest of the improvements related to the photographic section are aimed at obtaining better results in night photography and image processing in general, as well as in stabilizing the videos.
And what about the front camera? This one maintains the same Sony IMX471 sensor from the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. 16 megapixels of resolution and focal aperture f / 2.0 are the characteristics that accompany the whole set. We do not expect big changes in this regard.
The design is maintained and the screen goes to 90 Hz
The main novelty of the OnePlus 7 Pro with respect to the standard model came from the hand of the screen, which happened to have 90 Hz frequency. OnePlus has managed to channel its super sales success by integrating the same 90 Hz panel in the OnePlus 7T with no less than 1,000 nits of brightness. Unfortunately, the Full HD + resolution is maintained, although the size of the panel grows to 6.55 inches, as well as the ratio, which now becomes 20: 9, being this more elongated than 7.
OnePlus 7T design.
Compatibility with the HDR10 + standard makes an appearance again on the 7T panel, as well as the fingerprint sensor, which in the absence of official confirmation, is the same as that of the seventh iteration and which represents a substantial improvement compared to the 6T.
Regarding the design of the terminal, the OnePlus philosophy of transferring all the news to the basic model is maintained. It grows diagonally and releases a new camera module in a circular format. The most noteworthy innovation in this case has to do with the new haptic vibration motor introduced in the terminal. This promises, according to the company itself, "to take games to another dimension."
As far as dimensions are concerned, although at the moment they have not been announced by the manufacturer, it is expected that they will remain with respect to the previous models, with the exception of height and weight, which grow due to the integration of a larger panel. It should be noted that the bezels are now smaller and the notch size is slightly reduced compared to the OnePlus 7.
Hardware: the latest of the latest with Android 10 by flag
In the technical section OnePlus does not beat around the bush. As in the rest of the brand's terminals, the company has integrated the latest of the latest that can be found on the market.
Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 128 and 256 GB is what we can find in the 7T. The latter has UFS 3.0 technology, the fastest currently. But perhaps the most important novelty has to do with the integration of Android 10 as a base system under the Oxygen OS layer, becoming one of the first mobiles to have Android 10 out of the box - with the permission of the Huawei Mate 30 and 30 Pro -.
The rest of the features are the same as those of any phone with a Snapdragon 855+ processor: Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band GPS, WiFi compatible with all bands and frequencies, and a USB Type-C 3.1 connector to output video to external monitors and screens..
Battery and charge: one of lime and one of sand
If OnePlus has historically stood out for something, it is for its proprietary charging system. Now the company takes a giant step forward and integrates the same system as the OnePlus 7 Pro with some improvements.
Warp 30T is the name that gives its name to the new system, which has 30 W, 6 V and 5 A of power. In numbers, the president of the company assures that it is capable of charging up to 23% faster than in previous generations, which translates into just under one hour of charging if we charge the terminal 100% and up to 70% in a little over half an hour.
Speaking of the OnePlus 7T's battery, the improvement in this case is somewhat less tangible: 3,800 mAh. Compared to the last generation, the 7T increases its battery capacity by 100 mAh, which is only a 2% improvement over the OnePlus 7.
Wireless charging yes or wireless charging no? Unfortunately we still do not have induction charging: neither in this nor in any of the OnePlus models. The president has admitted that current standards are not capable of offering the speed they believe is appropriate, so we will have to wait for the next generation.
Price and availability of the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro
Prices and availability of the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro have not yet been confirmed for Spain or the rest of the European countries. The presentation of the OnePlus 7T Pro, however, will take place on October 10 in London, so it is expected that they will be announced soon.
If we pay attention to the rumors surrounding the terminal, everything indicates that the price will remain compared to the previous generation. The sale of the two terminals is also expected to begin in mid to late October.
- OnePlus 7T 8 and 128 GB: 559 euros
- OnePlus 7T 8 and 256 GB: 609 euros
So is it worth your purchase?
Returning to the question at the beginning, the answer depends on the device we currently have. In the case of coming from a OnePlus 7, 6T or even 6, the improvements compared to the new generation are rather little tangible. Beyond the screen and the integration of better lenses and sensors, few are the novelties that we find two or three generations ago with respect to the current one.
Is it worth it if we have a OnePlus 5, 5T or a smartphone from 2017 in general? Without a doubt yes, although from Tuexperto.com we strongly recommend the purchase of the standard model compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro. After all, the differences between the Pro model and the base model can only be seen in the cameras and the design if we stick to the rumors of the 7T Pro. The rest of the characteristics are identical in both cases: similar autonomy, same system fast charging, similar 90 Hz screen and same technical section.
