Display and layout
The Meizu M2 features a 5-inch diagonal laminated IPS screen. The HD resolution achieves a density of 293 dots per inch and offers 1000: 1 contrast, with a maximum brightness of 400 nits, so it looks good in sunlight. The panel is protected with a durable glass sheet from Dragon Trail.
Meizu has opted for a unibody design in polycarbonate (a very resistant type of plastic), with rounded corners and edges. The back is quite reminiscent of the iPhone 5C and some Lumia, especially the blue and pink versions - although it is also available in white and gray. The screen is fairly well adjusted to the edges and is 8.7 millimeters thick , with a weight of 131 grams.
Camera and multimedia
The Meizu M2 mounts a rear camera with a 13-megapixel Samsung CMOS sensor, ready to take photos in low light conditions and covered by a five-element lens with f / 2.2 aperture . In addition, Meizu has protected the lens with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 glass sheet . It includes other functions such as face detector, autofocus, FullHD video recording and burst mode. The front camera has 5 megapixels of resolution and its lens also has an f / 2.0 aperture. It comes with Foto Nation 2.0 software that offers special functions for selfies.
The Meizu M2 supports a good variety of multimedia formats and comes with the Flyme ROM player installed.
Power, memory and operating system
The Meizu M2 processor is a Mediatek MT6735, a quad-core with 64-bit support that operates at 1.3 Ghz frequency. The graphic section is in charge of a Mali-T720 MP2 GPU and is supported by 2 Gb of RAM. The internal memory is a 16 Gb Samsung eMMC 5.0, which offers a very fast read and write speed. It is also compatible with MicroSD cards of up to an additional 128 Gb, which are inserted through one of its two SIM slots.
Meizu has its own system based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Flyme 4.5 has its own application package, which includes basic functions such as the calculator, the phone app, the notes function, the calendar, the camera and much more. The interface has a synthetic appearance with very simple and colorful icons, is adapted to facilitate handling on all types of screens, even the largest ones, and offers various synchronization options in the cloud. It also includes several modes for the camera and a music player that changes its color scheme according to the album we are listening to at the time.
Connectivity and autonomy
Despite being a mid-range, the Meizu M2 has a very complete connection profile, which includes support for 4G mobile networks in both SIM slots. It also has a dual-band WiFi port (2.4 / 5 Ghz), low-consumption Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, GPS antenna with Glonass support, headphone minijack and MicroUSB.
The battery has a capacity of 2,500 milliamps and official data indicates that it offers a range of 680 hours in standby mode and 23 hours in conversation. It may be 10 hours without going through the plug if we are browsing through 4G networks and the duration will be extended to 12 hours if we use WiFi networks. It also offers 10 hours of HD720p video playback and up to 45 hours of non-stop music.
Availability and opinions
If the Meizu M2 already seemed to us an interesting smartphone, its price only reaffirms it as one of the mid-range mobiles of the year. Meizu throws the house out the window and offers the new M2 for an exchange rate of approximately 90 euros, but its features compete at a higher level, in which we find phones like the new Motorola Moto G 2015, one of the most popular models. expected of the year, which costs 200 euros. The Chinese company makes things difficult for its rivals with a mid-range device at an entry-level price.
