- Don't panic, these are Google numbers
- The SMS is not from Google or it is a different phone number, what to do?
For some time now, many users have reported sending an SMS through their mobile phones without having performed any manual intervention. Often these messages are issued to mobile phone numbers like 600124930, 600124933, 600124932 or 600124931 or landline numbers like 950050584, 911067304 or 957870401. Who is hiding behind these? Is there a way to block outgoing SMS? We see it below.
Don't panic, these are Google numbers
You open your application from Orange, Tuenti, Movistar, Vodafone or any other telephone company and you see a charge of 15 or 20 cents on the last invoice for an SMS from one of the numbers mentioned above. Do not panic, Google has been the cause of sending this SMS through the Messages application on your mobile phone.
In general, these messages are sent with the aim of verifying that the mobile phone number corresponds to the one registered the first time the mobile was started, to verify that it has not changed user. These messages are often accompanied by the following message:
The sending of this message is usually carried out if we have recently changed the mobile SIM card. It may also be the case that Google has scheduled the shipment for a certain period of time to periodically check if the phone number on the SIM card matches the number entered when registering the phone with our Google account.
Is there a way to block this type of outgoing SMS? The truth is, yes. To do this, we will go to the Android Settings application, and more specifically to the Google section. Once inside the section in question, we will go to the option of Phone number of the device.
Finally, we will click on our phone number or the number that we have previously registered and click on the link indicated. Then a new window will open in the browser with Google Settings with our phone number.
Now we will only have to disable all the options that appear to us to avoid sending SMS from the Google account. We can also remove the phone number, although it is not the most recommended in terms of security.
The SMS is not from Google or it is a different phone number, what to do?
If the SMS does not correspond to the numbers we have mentioned above, it is likely that the cause is an application other than Google and its services. Generally, this type of application usually corresponds to antivirus, tools to find the mobile or third-party APK from unofficial sources, that is, from outside the Play Store.
In the case of being an antivirus or an application to find the mobile remotely, we will have to access the options of the app to deactivate the verification through SMS. If the option does not appear anywhere, the best way to block outgoing SMS is to prohibit the deny access to SMS through the Android settings.
Within the Settings application we will go to the applications section; specifically to the application that sent the SMS. Next we will click on Permissions and finally we will deselect the SMS box. With this, the application will stop sending SMS on our behalf, although it is best to uninstall it completely, since it may be malware.
