Much has been speculated about the possibility that mobile phones are the cause of tumors and cancer disease. To date we have read many studies, some more rigorous and others more superficial, but the truth is that we had never obtained any clear information. Now the World Health Organization (WHO) has been in charge of putting the points on the i's. And it is that the prestigious organism has just presented a report in which it is stated that mobile phones may be responsible for some types of cancers or tumors in the brain. Some experts have already expressed themselves in this regard, indicating that theWHO does not provide objective data on this issue.
The truth is that there is no certain evidence that cell phones are the direct cause of cancer. The report has been prepared by a group of 31 experts gathered in Lyon who have analyzed some of the latest epidemiological studies that have been released in recent times. These reports include direct examinations of people who are often highly exposed to electromagnetic fields and who frequently use mobile phones to call. The evidence is not significant and has not made a special impression on the charities dedicated to supporting cancer patients.
The WHO report indicates that the use of mobile phones can lead to the appearance of glycomas, a characteristic type of malignant cancer. However, Antonio Llombart, president of the IVO Foundation, the Valencian Institute of Oncology, has warned that there is no reason that can explain the increase in cancer cases due to the use of mobile phones. In fact, it is expected that in 2020 the annual cases will increase from 200,000 to 300,000, without finding a specific reason that can explain it. In any case, Llombart has explained that all abuses can be harmful, pending more detailed investigations that can clarify this issue once and for all.
