Connecting the mobile to a television to duplicate its image is something that we can carry out through different methods. One of the most popular methods is based on the MHL standard. This standard is powered by a USB to HDMI adapter cable that transfers the mobile image to an external monitor. Unfortunately, the MHL standard has been outdated by other more modern media, such as USB 3.1. But this does not mean that there are no mobile phones compatible with the aforementioned certification. In fact, there are dozens of MHL-compatible Samsung mobiles in 2020.
The South Korean company is the manufacturer with the largest number of models compatible with this certification. The problem is that little by little it has stopped being integrated to give way to USB 3.1 to duplicate the image through the Samsung DeX system, a function that transforms the mobile interface into a desktop system.
What do I need to connect my Samsung mobile with MHL to the TV
Despite the fact that the MHL certification dates back almost a decade, Samsung has been one of the few manufacturers that has continued to bet on this support until recently. To connect a phone to a TV through this method we will have to resort to a USB MHL to HDMI adapter. We leave you below with a pair of compatible adapters:
Once we have purchased the adapter, we will only have to connect it to the phone and then to the TV through an HDMI cable. The image will automatically be duplicated on the TV or on the monitor where we have decided to broadcast.

So what is Samsung DeX?
It is a function integrated into certain company mobiles that allows us to directly transform the interface shown on the screen into an interface very similar to what Windows or Linux offers us.
On the contrary, the MHL certification is limited to duplicating what is seen on the mobile screen. Samsung DeX grants independent control, that is, we can have the screen turned off and control the mobile with a mouse and keyboard through the monitor.
The limitation of this system is that compatibility is limited to mobile Samsung with USB 3.1 and USB type C. Of course, not all mobiles with USB type C are compatible with this system, since they may be based on more obsolete standards, such as USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.
