Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 9 Pie on the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer. This means that if you have either of these two models, you can start enjoying the news in this new version before the end of the year. One of them is the possibility of being able to record video in super slow motion. Likewise, the devices also receive with Android 9 the Night Mode for night photography, which means better captures in low light conditions.
Normally, you will see a pop-up message on the phone screen advising you of the availability of the update. In the event that after several days it has not arrived, you can check yourself if Android 9 is already available for your Xiaomi Mi 8 or Mi 8 Explorer. You can do it from the settings section, about the system, software updates. At the moment, only these two terminals have begun to receive Pie. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro will have to wait a bit. As always, the update is coming via OTA (Over The Air), so you will not need to use any type of cable to download it, just a secure WiFi connection.
Once Android 9 Pie is installed on the Xiaomi Mi 8, it will be possible to use the night mode. Thanks to it, photos at night or in low light conditions will have more sharpness, brightness and quality. To all this we must add the possibility of recording at 960 frames per second. That is, in super slow motion. These videos can be shared without problems through a format conversion carried out by the phone itself. Although the resolution of these videos has not been specified, we imagine that they are FullHD.
On the other hand, Android 9 Pie also offers the option of having a new design for multitasking based on cards, navigation by gestures or an improved menu. The update has started in China, although it is a matter of time (days or weeks) before it begins to land in all the countries where the devices are marketed.
