At the end of the year 2017 the controversy jumped: Apple was accused of lowering the performance of those iPhones whose battery began to accuse the passage of time. Since this ruse was discovered, and the lack of transparency on the part of the company, Apple has been in the eye of the hurricane to prevent it from doing its thing again. In fact, the Competition and Markets Authority of the United Kingdom has been investigating this matter since 2018, with news in the last hours.
This body has managed to get Apple to notify its users from now on if software updates can affect the performance of their devices. The goal is to avoid what happened almost two years ago. The fact of launching new updates caused those older iPhones and, therefore, with more degraded batteries, to begin to go slower and slower. In this way, if we can know in advance that an upcoming iOS update may pose a risk to the performance of our device, we can decide what to do, or at least be on notice.
While this is starting, we can currently check the status of our iPhone battery to see if it is better to replace it. This is something that Apple introduced in iOS after the scandal. You just have to enter the settings, battery section and go directly to Low consumption mode. If once inside you do not see a message that says: " The iPhone battery may need to be repaired", it means that you have not yet passed 500 charge cycles, and therefore your battery is still in good health.
To know the charge cycles that your terminal has, you only have to resort to a third-party app. One of the most popular is Battery Life, available for free through the App Store. Once inside you can check the status of your battery, as well as have other additional functions to learn more about this section.
