It seems a lie, but Sony can already boast of having started to distribute the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update among its smartphones. It is true that the update belongs to the test program of the Japanese company, and it is also true that the update has only reached the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact; but, even so, the deployment of this update does not stop being surprising. This update, which responds to the numbering of MMB29M.Z1.3021-somc , has already reached the hands of the lucky users of an Xperia Z3 or Z3 Compact who participate in the test program ofSony, so all its news have been revealed.
As we read in XperiaBlog.net, the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact involved in the test program Marshmallow from Sony have just started to receive via OTA update of Android 6.0.1. This update, in addition to correcting minor errors, seems to eliminate the option that allowed modifying the appearance of the operating system icons (rather, what it eliminates are the three icon designs that were available in the previous version, which we were able to know at the same time that it was revealed that Sony would allow Marshmallow to uninstall the applications that come from the factory in the Xperia). We do not know if the final version will also dispense with this option, which, remember, what allowed was to change the shape of the icons that represent the applications installed on the mobile.
For the rest of the owners of the Xperia range, this update seems to translate into the good news that Sony could have decided to update its Xperia directly to the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow version (it wouldn't be the first timeā¦ it already did with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop). Although this entails a longer wait time for the arrival of the update, at the same time it should also result in an update that is much less likely to contain errors that affect the user experience.
For now, Sony has already confirmed the models of the Xperia range that will receive their respective update to Android 6.0, although what it has not confirmed are the official dates on which this update will begin to come true. According to the most optimistic forecasts, the first months of 2016 should be used for the brand's flagships (the Sony Xperia Z5, the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium) to be updated to the version of Android 6.0.1; from there, the rest of the phones in the Sony catalog included in the update would progressively receive their updates.
