Sony begins to update its mid-range to the latest version of Android. The Japanese company is one of the few to quickly update its devices. Even the recently released ones have the latest version of Android. Now it is the turn of the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra, two mid-range launched in 2018. We tell you all the news and technical data of the update.
The update is version number 50.2.A.0.352 for both models. Sony previously released an update with version number 50.2.A.0.342, which also included Android 9.0 Pie. This was canceled due to various issues, and is now being re-released with another build number. We don't know the size, but it could be around 2 GB or so. Apart from the latest version of Android, it also comes with the March or April security patch.
Android 9.0 Pie arrives with a new navigation bar using gestures. Also with new options for digital well-being, such as a control of time of use in apps. Located in the settings, this option allows us to know how much time we spend with our device. Another novelty is the battery and adaptive brightness. Sony could also include enhancements to its customization layer.
How to update the Xperia XA2 to the latest version
The update is coming in a staggered way to all devices. It may take a few days, even weeks, to be available on your device. You can check it in the system settings, in the 'Software update' section. Remember to have enough internal storage, as well as a battery of at least 50 percent for download and installation. As it is a major update, it is recommended to make a backup of your data. Remember that the device will need to be restarted, do not force it to shut down or remove the charger if you have connected it.
