With the presentation of Google's new operating system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the new question that arises with each major update was opened: which devices will be compatible with this platform? Given this, and considering that two of the best-selling mobile phones in this segment are the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2 (between them they have placed more than 30 million units worldwide), it is acceptable to divert that question in the direction of the defendant telephones of the South Korean multinational.
Indeed, as they have advanced from Google, the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2 will be able to update their system to the most advanced version of the hybrid platform for smartphones and tablets. Specifically, these phones will be able to catch up with version 4.0.1, which is none other than the one dedicated to Samsung phones, which, as you already know, have an exclusive layer called TouchWiz.
Samsung, for its part, announced through its British Twitter account that it is not yet in a position to anticipate when the Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2 will begin to update. In any case, it is logically ruled out that the update will take place in the coming weeks, considering that the Galaxy Nexus, which is the phone that opens this new generation, will not go on sale before November 10.
It should be remembered that TouchWiz on the Samsung Galaxy S2 will have a new version that will allow you to change the size of the icons that are seen on the screen, reducing the grid so that the selectable options are easier to view. It is unknown if with the Ice Cream Sandwich update this option will continue to be available, although it would not make much sense to make it available without support for large icons in TouchWiz once this feature is activated. It is also not clear if the aforementioned configuration will also be available on the Samsung Galaxy S.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream has been conceived as a valid system for mobiles and tablets, based on the iconography of the immediately previous edition, Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which is only available for tablets. Its design is very minimalist as well as simple and attractive, also having a double interface of applications and floating windows ( widgets ) with which to customize the functions of the system's desktop screens.
