The update to Android 7 Nougat was released late last year. But the truth is that at this point, not all computers have been updated to the most recent version of the platform. This is the reality.
We know that Samsung intends to update a good part of the phones it has in its catalog. Especially the most recent ones. Those who will soon receive Nougat honeys will be the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 and Samsung Galaxy A3 2017.
The first was presented last year and is one of the most basic equipment that the Korean has for sale. The second was announced at the beginning of the year, hence the name 2017. But despite that it was born running Android 6 Marshmallow.
Today we learned that the update to Android 7 for this pair of devices is closer than we could imagine.
Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 and J7 2016, update to Android 7
When the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 was unveiled earlier this year, it ran on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. A version that today is somewhat outdated. Users who have this device in hand will have the opportunity to update shortly to the version of Android 7.
In this way, they will be able to enjoy much of the features that come on board with the edition. Among these is the native multi-window mode, a more complete and configurable notification system, a tool to save data and save space and even a night mode, to enjoy a more comfortable viewing for our eyes. It should be borne in mind, of course, that when we are faced with a basic-mid-range device, some features may not be operational.
The WiFi certification in which the device has appeared running Android 7 is very recent. This makes us think about a close deployment, which will logically be done progressively in all markets.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 has also appeared in this list of WiFi certifications. And as indicated on other occasions, you can update to the latest version of Android.
The team has a fairly basic technical sheet. Despite that, users will most likely also be able to access enhancements such as the adaptive screen size (great for the visually impaired) or the option to restart. A very basic feature but that, despite that, we had not seen it before on Android.
How to update to Android 7
Updating to Android 7 will be a simple process. Identical to what we have already seen on other devices. At the moment there is no date on the horizon, so we will have to be patient and wait. As the update will arrive via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) or over the air, users will receive a warning before going live. The deployment will be done, as usual, progressively.
In fact, they will be the ones who have to give the approval to install it. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 and Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 will have to be prepared for the process. This is, basically, charging the battery of the equipment to the maximum (at least 50% of its capacity) and having made a backup with all your most important contents and settings. Keep in mind that updates are delicate processes, so it should be prevented.
The last thing to do is connect to a WiFi network to download the update. The dimensions of the data package have not yet transcended, but everything indicates that it could be a fairly generous update in MB.
