The trend of 'all screen' mobiles continues. Many manufacturers are launching mobiles with screens with hardly any frames and very curved. They are also looking for a solution so that the camera and sensors do not disturb the front. For example, Samsung opts for a camera directly on the screen, while Xiaomi opts for the notches shaped like a drop of water. Asus goes a step further so that the screen of its mobiles has hardly any frames: a rotating camera. This is the most prominent feature of the new Asus ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro and that's how it works.
The Asus ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro inherit one of the main features of their previous generation: the rotating camera, also called a motorized camera or rotating camera. Although Asus calls it 'Flip Camera'. It is a triple camera module that rotates at an angle of 180 degrees. That is, when we want to take pictures with the rear camera, the sensor is activated and does its job, but we do want to take a selfie, the camera rotates to the front. In this way, we avoid unnecessary lenses in the front and we can get higher quality selfies.
Of course, having a motorized camera can be synonymous with performance problems. The software is capable of detecting if the camera is rotating too much and it alerts us through a pop-up window. In addition, the module has a gravity sensor; If we have the lens open and the phone falls, the camera closes before falling to the ground.
Regarding image quality, this Flip Camera has a triple lens of up to 64 megapixels, which is the maximum resolution that the main sensor manages to reach. It has an aperture f / 1.8 and has an optical stabilizer (OIS) in the case of the Pro model. The second camera is a wide-angle sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels and an angle of 113 degrees. Also included is an 8 megapixel telephoto sensor capable of achieving a 3x zoom in optical format. Of course, all these settings can be used when taking selfies, although the telephoto lens does not make much sense.
Video recording also stands out, with the possibility of recording content in 8K at 30FPS or in 4K with up to 60fps.

Few differences between both models
In terms of performance, the truth is that the two models are very similar. We see the differences in a few sections. For example, the Asus Zenfone 7 has a Snapdragon 865 processor, while the Pro model has a Snapdragon 865 +, which is slightly higher. Also, the regular model has a configuration of 6 or 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal memory. In the ZenFone 7 Pro, the 6 GB of RAM is eliminated and the memory is expanded to 256 GB.
There is another small difference, which is in the photographic section. Unlike the Zenfone 7, the Pro version has an Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS). This translates into better stabilization when recording videos and taking pictures.
If you are concerned about the screen or the battery, it is the same in both models. 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Also with Gorilla Glass 6. The battery is 5,000 mAh and includes a fast charge of 30W. On the other hand, both the Asus Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro feature 5G, NFC, stereo speakers, and an under-display fingerprint reader.
Price and availability
The Asus Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro have been announced in Taiwan. E STARAN available on 1 September.
