EMUI 9.1, the new customization layer for Huawei devices, has been rolling out on compatible phones since April, first as a beta version and then as a stable version. The last to join the list has been the Huawei Mate 9, a team that is already beginning to receive the benefits of this update, such as the new EROFS file system or TURBO 3.0 GPU. The EMUI 9.1.0.0.252 update has begun to land on the Mate 9 that are marketed in Asia, although it is a matter of days or weeks before it does the same in the rest of the places where it is also available.
Normally, when the time comes you will receive a pop-up message on the screen of your device advising you of the update. If not, you can check it yourself from Settings> System> Software update> Check for updates. The update is available via OTA (over the air), which means that you will not need to use any type of cables for download and installation. Of course, we recommend that at the time of updating you have a stable WiFi connection. Avoid doing it in places with public or open WiFis.
Among the main novelties of EMUI 9.1 for the Huawei Mate 9 we can mention the new EROFS file system, which promises an increase in the reading speed of over 20%. There is also the ARK compiler, responsible for making the system go faster, as well as GPU TURBO 3.0, capable of optimizing resources to achieve greater ease in some games. EMUI 9.1 also includes new themes and backgrounds, enhancements to digital well-being, and design changes. Another novelty is related to improvements in the functions of augmented reality through the camera, as well as a new password manager to preserve even more security if possible.
The Huawei Mate 9 already has a few years on the market. Announced in November 2016, this terminal continues to offer quite interesting features to this day. Among them we can mention a double main camera of 20 + 12 megapixels, Kirin 960 own processor accompanied by 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, as well as a range of 4,000 mAh.
