Do you want to know which is the most powerful smartphone on the market? Antutu has just published a ranking of the ten fastest smartphones for the first quarter of 2016. We tell you which are the most powerful phones of the moment.
Xiaomi Mi 5, the winner
Although "" as we will see later "", there are two other two high-end smartphones on its heels, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is placed in the first place as the most powerful smartphone, if we take into account the market of the first quarter of 2016.
Xiaomi's new high-end smartphone has a 5.16-inch LCD screen with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), a 16-megapixel main camera and a 4-megapixel front camera. It uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Xiaomi's own MIUI interface and is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor (two at 2.15 GHz and another two at 1.8 GHz) and a 3 GB RAM (or 4 GB in Pro version). The battery is 3000 mAh.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is available with 128, 64 or 32 GB of internal storage that cannot be expanded with an external microSD card.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung's high-end star
The second place in the classification, according to Antutu standards, is the newcomer Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the most powerful terminal of the moment of the Korean brand. Although he is very close to the winner, it is surprising that the Chinese smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5 has passed him by.
In the first and second quarters of 2015, Samsung remained the undisputed leader with its Samsung Galaxy S6 terminal. In the third quarter he was ousted and the Meizu Pro 5 took first place. Finally, in the last three months of 2015, the Huawei Mate 8 was the undisputed winner in the ranking of the most powerful smartphones.
The trends show, therefore, a clear rise of Chinese phones in terms of performance, and in this beginning of 2016 the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has not been able to reach the first place precisely because of the power of the Xiaomi Mi 5.
The iPhone remains in third place
The third place on the Antutu list is occupied by the iPhone 6s Plus, although again it must be mentioned that it does so with a score very close to those reached by the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in the second position and the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the first..
Antutu explains that iPhone models are being displaced by Android devices because many brands are betting on improvements in their processors at a level that surpasses Apple terminals. The iPhone 6 ranks eighth in the rankings.
Chinese brands complete the Top 5
As can be seen in the graph, the Huawei Mate 8 occupies the fourth position, and the Meizu Pro 5 is the fifth most powerful terminal on the market. At number 6 we find the Samsung Galaxy Note 5; the LETV Max is ranked 7; the iPhone 6 is the eighth; the Vivo XPlay Standard is ninth, and the Samsung Galaxy S6 remains in the ranking but is the last in the Top 10.
A reflection on resolution, processors and performance
Antutu explains in his ranking that the resolution of the screens can influence (and a lot) the performance of the terminals. If we take into account that the Huawei Mi 5 uses a Full HD screen and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge allows working with 2K resolution, it is easier to understand why the Korean model has remained in second place, even if it is with a minimal difference.
Regarding the processors, the study clarifies that the iPhone is lagging slightly behind compared to the high-end models of other brands because the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which offers very good performance, is becoming more and more widespread.. In fact, the presence of this processor model would also explain why the Xiaomi Mi 5 performs better than the Huawei Mate 8, which has a Kirin 950 processor.
