The iPhone 11 and 11 Pro have been on the market for a few weeks and if you have come this far it is because you probably already have your new iPhone. Or, you are thinking of buying it. Apple terminals are devices that have many functions, and most of them can be found easily through the different menus and settings. However, they also have their hidden tricks and tweaks. In this post we review the best X tricks for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Apply dark mode
iOS 13 and its main novelty: dark mode. This mode is perfect for new Apple devices. Especially for the iPhone 11 Pro, since they have an OLED panel. Although it can also be applied on the iPhone 11. The dark mode or night mode allows us to apply black tones on the interface, and all light elements become dark . It can be useful for saving battery life, although this feature is not really going to make the iPhone last longer without having to go through the charger. Therefore, it can stick around longer to give your iPhone a different touch.
Dark mode can be applied in different ways. The simplest in going to Settings> Screen and brightness> Appearance. Here we can choose between light and dark tones. Depending on the wallpaper that we have applied, it will also change to a light or darker tone. An interesting function is that we can also put it automatically. In the automatic mode there are two options: that the dark mode is applied with the sunset and the light mode with the sunrise, or to set a time zone. For example, that until 12:00 in the morning do not apply the clear mode.
Another option to apply the night mode is through the control center. Hold down the brightness button and turn dark mode on or off where it says 'Dark Mode' at the bottom. Some apps, like Instagram, will activate their night mode when the iPhone also enters this mode. Unfortunately there is no setting to disable this option in the system applications.
How to take a screenshot
The easiest way to take a screenshot is by pressing the Power / Lock button and the Volume Up button at the same time. You will see an animation confirming that you have taken a screenshot. A negative aspect is that Siri does not let us take a screenshot. Instead, the Google Assistant does.
How to delete an app on iPhone 11
There is a new way to remove apps on iPhone 11. 3D Touch has disappeared from these new devices. Instead, the Apctic Toch is included, which simulates this 3D Touch that we did see in previous iPhones. To delete an application on the iPhone 11, 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max, we just have to press and hold on the app for a few seconds. A small menu will appear and click on the option that says 'Reorganize apps'. Then, click on the 'x' that appears in the corner of the app.
You can also hold down a bit longer to make the app shake. Then the 'X' will appear in the corner of the app and you can uninstall it.
Portrait without zoom on the iPhone 11 Pro
An exclusive function of the iPhone 11 Pro and that you may not have known. In the new Apple models we can take pictures in portrait mode without the 2x zoom of the telephoto camera. In previous iPhone (except the XR) the telephoto lens was in charge of taking portraits, which means that the zoom is always present. However, in the new iPhone 11 Pro we can also use the angular camera to take portraits. To do this, we go to the iPhone camera app, click on the portrait option and in the left corner, click where it says 2X. It will automatically switch to the wide angle lens and switch to 1X. Focus on the subject and take the picture.
How to use the iPhone with one hand
This trick is very useful for the iPhone 11 or the iPhone 11 Pro Max, since both have a fairly large screen. One-handed use mode lowers items in the upper area of the screen for easy access. To activate this option we must go to Settings> Accessibility> Touch> Easy link. Here you must activate the easy link option. Then slide from the center of the bottom down. You will see the items on the screen go down. Click on the arrow if you want the screen to return to normal.
Notice: in the configuration of the iPhone 11 we can activate this option.
How to have fast charge on iPhone 11
Apple fast charging charger. This comes standard with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPad Pro.
The iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max have fast charging. However, only the Pro models include the 18W charger that provides a somewhat - not much - faster charge than the standard 5W. We can have fast charging on the iPhone 11, but different accessories will be required.
If you have an iPad Pro or Macbook, you can use the adapter to apply fast charging to your device. For this we will only have to purchase a USB C to lightning cable. Apple's is priced at 25 euros. In the event that you do not have a compatible adapter, you can buy the official one from Apple for 35 euros. Or one that charges at 18W and is Apple certified compliant.
Create Memoji Stickers
Creating Memoji Stickers is really simple, since the keyboard creates them automatically and allows us to use them in any compatible app. To create a Memoji we must go to the messages app, start anybody in Chay and click on the Memoji icon that appears at the bottom. Tap on new Memoji and customize it to your liking. Now, when you access a messaging app or that allows you to use stickers, open the keyboard, click on the emoji icon and swipe to the left. You will see the stickers appear with your face. If you want to know how you can use them in WhatsApp, read this tutorial here.
Record 4K video on iPhone
Both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro allow 4K video recording, but it is not activated by default. In the next versions of iOS we will be able to change the quality from the camera application itself, but for now we will have to go to Settings> Camera> Record video. In the option select 4K. If you want better movement and stabilization, press 4K at 60 Fps. But if your iPhone does not have enough storage, you can opt for 4K at 30 fps. Apple says you can spend up to 400MB with 1 minute of 4K video at 60fps and 170MB with 1 minute at 30fps.
The best trick for the iPhone camera
The iPhone 11 now have a wide angle lens. This allows us to take pictures with more information, since it has a wider angle than the main sensor. In the camera we can select the 0.5 mode for wide-angle photographs and in my analysis of the iPhone 11 I could see that it worked really well in most conditions. But you may not have known that this lens can also support the main camera. How? allowing us to get more information in the 1x image.
The explanation is simple; the 1x lens (the main one) is responsible for taking the picture, but in the background the 0.5x camera (the ultra-wide angle) also takes the same picture. This allows us that, when editing the image in the gallery, we can obtain more information in the photo, since we can crop and adjust by adding what that second ultra-wide angle camera has managed to capture.
This option is disabled by default. To activate it, it will be necessary to go to Settings> Camera> Capture outside the photo frame. Activate this option, and if you want it to also happen on video, check the second box. Now, when taking a picture with the normal camera, we can adjust and select information that does not appear with the 1x.
Warning: this trick works for both iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, however, it does not work in all situations. It usually works when the sensor is able to collect enough light or in certain scenarios.
Record Instagram-style video
A simple trick, we can record videos in the purest Instagram style. That is, by holding down the shutter button from the camera app. You just have to go to the app and hold down the white button, you will see that the camera begins to record. If you want to continue recording but need to release, slide your finger to the right and you will lock the shutter. To take a burst of photos, press the white button and swipe to the left.
