Table of contents:
In 2018, LG unveiled its plans to launch a foldable mobile device. A trend that gathers momentum and then is relegated for a while until brands again show signs that they are still interested.
While Samsung and Huawei took the initiative to venture into folding screens, LG also had a project with Lenovo to make a tablet with a folding screen. A huge challenge.
Then we learned about LG's plans to create a smartphone with a folding screen (concept that you see in the image of the article) and with some peculiarities as shown in the description of the patent. In addition to describing the folding system, it also refers to the device having a transparent panel. And this transparency could be customized at will of the user.
So not only does it offer more comfort with its folding screen but it would also facilitate interaction on the device from either side. An explosive combination if ever this LG concept becomes a reality.
LG's new plans for folding phones
And following LG's plans to develop a foldable display proposal, now Gizchina mentions that they have registered trademarks under new foldable mobile device names with the Korean Intellectual Property Office. These applications are dated July 8 under the names of "LG Arc" and "LG Folds"
So this hints that the brand is returning to its initial 2018 plans. We will see if this time, LG manages to advance its plans since so far it has not even shown a prototype as other brands have done. So there is no precise date yet to see a firm product from LG that joins folding screen devices.
It is still interesting that brands continue to study ways to innovate in their products to offer new proposals to users. On the other hand, we already know that September will be the month chosen by Samsung to launch Galaxy Fold, and Huawei could also be preparing its foldable mobile device for the same dates.
