Dual screen technology in mobile phones is still in its infancy. The ZTE Axon M is the only proposal, so far, to bring the 'flexible' screen to our devices. And it is not exactly flexible: it consists of two screens joined by a hinge, so the content display could be seen interfered with by a horizontal strip. While waiting for Samsung to finally launch its own flexible device (after numerous registered patents), today we learn that LG has just patented a dual-screen mobile design.
We take a closer look at the patent for the new dual-screen LG
The patent, filed in 2016 and approved now, is called 'Mobile Terminal', shows in the image that, in addition to a double screen, it would also have two batteries and two minijack connectors for headphones. The screen has a curved effect at its end, in the style of the celebrated design of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, in which we can get notifications, time and date.
Two screens, two content
The double screen, as can be seen in the images that accompany the patent, are joined by two hinges, placed at the top and bottom of the terminal. Imagine a laptop placed vertically and you will have a slight idea of what the LG mobile would look like. In the open position, we can place the phone so that two people can watch two different videos, using the two headphone ports using one of them as a virtual keyboard.
If you are wondering if, since the phone has two batteries and two headphone ports, it will have two cameras, the answer is yes: each module will have its own photographic sensor. And not only that: apparently, the fingerprint sensor would be housed under the screen. Surely, this is the other most awaited technology in the field of mobile telephony alongside the real flexible screen.
Other brands hope to have their own dual or flexible screen terminal: we pointed out at the beginning that Samsung is preparing the arrival of its new Samsung Galaxy X, a terminal reserved, possibly, for a small sector of the market. Other brands interested in having their own terminal with such characteristics would be Apple, Microsoft or Huawei.
