Better late than never. But late, late. And it is that while the main mobile manufacturers already have their eyes on Google's ice cream sandwich (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich), the South Korean LG continues to be at the rear of updates, and announces, at this point in the film, that its Most powerful mobile will catch up with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
We refer to the LG Optimus 3D, the phone that the firm defined as tri-dual , and whose main attraction is having been the first global launch that a manufacturer has dedicated to autostereoscopic technology in a mobile. Or what is the same: that equips a 3D screen that does not require the use of accessories to enjoy the striking effect.
It will be from next Monday, November 21, when the LG Optimus 3D from all over the world will begin to be compatible with what is the latest Google operating system (at least, the last one until the Samsung is officially put on sale. Galaxy Nexus, which will be the first phone to commercially release Android 4.0).
The question is whether the update, which will begin in Europe from that day, will reach all the countries of the continent equally or if there will be a staggered process. Of course, this schedule only affects free terminals, so if you want to get your LG Optimus 3D through some kind of operator grant you will have to wait for your company to adapt the firmware.
For those users, the update date is a mystery, and is subject to the rush that their respective operators are given to adjust the extra parameters included in the new system. It should be remembered that during the premiere of the LG Optimus 3D it was already indicated that due to its peculiarities, this device would be one of the last in the queue for each new update.
And it is that the fact of including sections dedicated exclusively to the reproduction of content in three dimensions requires, as confirmed by sources from LG itself, additional work when it comes to adapting the requirements of the platform to the specific layer that the multinational Korean designed for this LG Optimus 3D.
It should be noted that with this announcement, LG lags behind the main mobile manufacturers (it ranks third in global sales, behind Nokia and Samsung) in upgrading to Gingerbread which is its flagship terminal, with the permission of LG Optimis 2X (which has also taken longer than expected to update to the latest Android).
