Gone are the days when the mobile phone was a clutter with which to make calls and send short messages. Today, in the middle of the smartphone generation, this device surpasses what was imagined just a couple of years ago. The LG Optimus 2X could be proof of this.
Although it is not the first to show off the possibility of using the terminal as a portable multimedia platform that transmits data in high definition (the Nokia N8 already includes an HDMI output), this LG Optimus 2X will be the one that opens a category of terminals in this sense, since, if the deadlines are met, he could be the dean of smart phones that we can connect to the TV in the living room, with the best quality, and with FullHD results. That is, we would see them at the highest resolution that home screens support: 1080p.
In a test carried out by the guys at Phone Arena, we checked the behavior of the LG Optimus 2X before different tests, depending on the content that can be launched from the mobile itself to the television. Thus, in the first place we verify that, to begin with, if we connect the LG Optimus 2X to the TV in the living room, and since the main Android interface cannot be operated horizontally, we will see the mobile screen in vertical duplicated on the television. This suggests, in principle, to admire YouTube videos, with the results in resolution allowed by the native application in the LG Optimus 2X.
Also, something we already saw with the Nokia N8, this option allows us to turn the LG Optimus 2X into a living room console. And in that case, the mobile will function as a secondary screen and command that operates with a motion sensor, thanks to the accelerometer that integrates the LG Optimus 2X.
As for the videos in FullHD, it is necessary to know that to play them from the native application of the LG Optimus 2X, they must be encoded in MPEG or DivX. In case they are in MKV, you will have to use third-party applications (available from the Android Market). In addition, since the HDMI connection is a multimedia output, we will obtain as good results in audio as in video (as long as the file that we play is good).
