Display and layout
As we have already anticipated, the LG Leon has an intermediate screen, just the right size to be very comfortable to handle and transport, but without being too tight to sacrifice the visual experience. The panel measures 4.5 inches and features in -cell touch technology. This system reduces layers and achieves thinner panels, also improves tactile response and minimizes reflections. The resolution is FWVGA, or what is the same, 854 x 480 pixels. The density stays at 220 dots per inch.
LG is committed to the same design style that they use in their most advanced mobiles. Its shape combines curved and straight lines, achieving an elegant appearance and a more ergonomic shape so that it is comfortable to hold. Placing the physical buttons (power and volume) on the back is already a hallmark of LG, and allows them to get thinner and completely clear sides, keeping the buttons in an accessible place. The screen has been adjusted very well to the edge on the sides, one of the advantages provided by the in-cell touch system, and is protected by a sheet of resistant glass. The back shell is plasticin the version with 3G connectivity, while the model with 4G has a housing with a metallic finish. The LG Leon's measurements are 129.9 x 64.9 x 10.9 millimeters, but the weight has yet to be confirmed.
Camera and multimedia
The LG Leon will go on sale in various configurations that will be distributed according to markets. In the case of the camera, it is not clear if we will find a sensor of five or eight megapixels, since LG has not specified in which regions each version will be sold. In any case, it would be accompanied by an LED flash, very practical for illuminating night scenes or interiors in which there is very little light. It could not miss the usual package of functions such as automatic focus, digital zoom, image editor, face detector, video recording or geo-tagging. On the front it has a secondary sensor of 0.3 megapixels, so if we want to do aSelfie with good quality we will have to settle for the rear camera.
The LG Leon is a simple mobile, but it has a multimedia profile compatible with the most common formats and codecs. Its music player displays album art and can connect to Internet radio stations .
Power and memory
The processor is another of the sections that will change according to markets. The available chips will be both quad-core, with the only difference that one will work at 1.2 Ghz frequency and the other at 1.3 Ghz. There may be other technical differences such as architecture, but LG has not provided further details.
The RAM memory of the LG Leon is 1 Gb, like the rest of the range (except for the LG Joy, which will be available in a version with 512 Mb). In the case of storage capacity, the user will have at their disposal around 5 Gb, which is what will be free if we discount the applications and the system from their 8 Gb of origin. LG has not confirmed it, but everything indicates that it will allow to expand the memory with MicroSD cards.
Operating system and applications
The LG Leon comes standard with Android 5.0 Lollipop, which means that it comes with all the new features in the interface. Google has changed the design of the system, making it clearer and improving the organization to achieve a more intuitive user experience. There are also improved functions such as the new notification system, which allows us to see the alerts directly on the lock screen and read or discard them without having to unlock the terminal. Android Lollipop launches the new Smart Lock security package , which includes several features to improve privacy, and guest mode. Connectivity and autonomy
Mobile connectivity will be another aspect that varies depending on the version of the equipment. There will be a model compatible with 4G mobile networks, while the other will conform to 3G networks. The rest of your connection profile is the most conventional. It has WiFi, Bluetooth wireless port, allows you to create a WiFi zone, GPS antenna, headphone jack and MicroUSB.
The LG Leon equips a removable 1,900 milliamp battery, of which we still do not know the data on its duration in different situations. However, the capacity of its battery is balanced with the rest of the components, so its duration giving it a mixed use will be around the day of use.
Availability and opinions
LG will show its new proposal for the mid-range at the Mobile World Congress, where we could learn more details about its launch. At the moment they have not announced a specific date or a price, of which they have limited themselves to saying that it will be " adjusted ". This will be the decisive point to make the LG Leon stand out in a segment increasingly saturated with very interesting options. It stands out above all for its design that emulates the LG G series and that carries Android 5.0 Lollipop.
