Display and layout

When we say compact version we mean that it is smaller than the original LG G4 and its 5.5-inch screen, but the LG G4c is not exactly compact. Its panel is a 5-inch diagonal IPS, a large size but which is quite manageable even with one hand. The resolution is HD (1,280 x 720 pixels) and its density remains at a reasonable 294 dots per inch.

The design maintains a line similar to that of the LG G4, with a sharp corner shape and a slightly curved back cover (in this case the screen has not been curved). Speaking of the back case, it is plastic and a rather subtle diamond texture has been added, but that gives it a different touch. Its profile has 10.2 millimeters in the thickest part and the weight is reduced to 136 grams due to its more compact size. It will go on sale in metallic gray, white and gold.

Camera and multimedia

The camera is one of the sections that suffers the most in this cut in benefits. The main sensor has 8 megapixels of resolution and is accompanied by the basic functions, no laser focus or f / 1.8 lens, that is reserved for the most advanced of the range. It includes automatic focus, LED flash, face and smile detector, panoramic photos, image editor and records videos - although LG has not specified the resolution. The front camera is designed for taking selfies and has 5 megapixels. The Gesture Shot function allows us to shoot the camera by making a gesture with the hand.

The LG G4c integrates a loudspeaker at the rear of the chassis and has the basic multimedia functions, such as an integrated player, voice recording, dictation and a headset.

Power and memory

LG has not offered the details of the LG G4c processor , but everything indicates that it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, the chip that integrates many of the mid-range of the current panorama. It consists of four Cortex A53 cores that work at 1.2 Ghz and has an Adreno 306 graphics processor, but we will have to wait for confirmation from LG. What they have specified is that the RAM is 1 Gb, the same as in the LG G Stylus.

The LG G4c will go on sale in a single version with 8 Gb of capacity, to which we will have to add a MicroSD if we do not want to be too short.

Operating system and applications

The LG G4c comes standard with Android 5.0 Lollipop and the latest version of LG's visual layer , the LG UX 4.0, which is the same as the LG G4. The system has a simpler appearance and its operation is made more intuitive. Now we can see the notifications on the lock screen and decide who and when can bother us, among other news. LG adds several exclusive functions such as the Knock Code or Glance View unlocking system ,a small panel with information of interest (notifications, date and time) that is activated with a simple gesture even if the screen is locked. For its part, Google provides all its mobile services, which include functions such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, YouTube or Keep.

Connectivity and autonomy

Unlike the LG G4 Stylus, which comes in two versions with different mobile connectivity, the LG G4 will only be available in a single version compatible with 3G and 4G mobile networks, to navigate at full speed. It also connects to WiFi networks and offers the option of creating a WiFi access point to connect other devices. The Bluetooth wireless port , the Glonass compatible GPS antenna, the MicroUSB and the headphone jack could not be missing. In addition, the LG G4c integrates an NFC chip which is very useful for pairing accessories, loading predefined profiles or even making payments with your mobile, all you have to do is bring the phone close to a receiver.

The LG G4c integrates a removable 2,540 milliamp battery , of which at the moment we do not know the autonomy since LG has not provided the data. However, the capacity of the battery is quite balanced to its benefits, so its duration will move within the usual figures.

Availability and opinions

At the moment we do not have a specific date for the arrival of the LG G4c and LG G4 Stylus, but the company has announced that they will be launched in key markets from the next few weeks, at which time we will also know their price.

LG offers a more compact edition of its flagship, but also less advanced (and hopefully much cheaper). The 5-inch HD screen is balanced, as are the cameras - although a little more resolution on the rear sensor could have done well. There are few similarities to the LG G4, the model it aims to emulate. We have a similar design, the same version of the LG UX 4.0 interface and some exclusive features, but its hardware is well below what its flagship offers.
