The number one hit in sales for Apple's next phone is Apple's last existing phone. At least, this is what information published by the Financial Times newspaper suggests, where they echo behavior among British clients.
According to this, the expectation that the one known provisionally as the iPhone 5 would be generating would have caused a reduction in sales of what until now is the high-end terminal of the Cupertino firm, the iPhone 4S. However, perhaps the fault has not only been the rumors that are serving as a prelude to the terminal that is expected to be presented, according to bets, leaks and other unofficial information, between the months of August and October.
Let's go by parts. The information published by Financial Time indicates that, although last March approximately 25 percent of the smartphones "" that is, smart phones, not mobile phones in general "" sold were some of the iPhone 4S models, the Last June, the trend showed another direction, falling slightly to 20 percent. The percentage is not particularly alarming, and may have its translation into reasons not directly related to the proximity to the launch of the iPhone 5 "" although the influence of this fact is clearly undeniable "".
For starters, the annual cycle of the iPhone 4S is nearing its end. This also means that the expectation generated by the terminal that was presented on October 4 does not have the bellows of previous months. On the other hand, in June the last current model of Apple's phone had to do with the last of its shoe: the Samsung Galaxy S3. It was on May 29 when the latest Samsung flagship went on sale, registering record sales during the month of June that would undoubtedly have been after the fall in monthly penetration of the iPhone 4S during that period.
In any case, given that there is still no official data on how the market has reacted to the Samsung Galaxy S3, this option could not be given absolute support to respond to the decline in Applephone sales. In any case, as we know through Boy Genius Report, the consulting firm Gfk would have verified that the last launch of the South Korean firm absorbed 18 percent of the quota only during the month of June in the United Kingdom.
The launch of the iPhone 5, as we say, is scheduled according to rumors that are handled for sometime in August and October. In principle, it was assumed that it would meet the submission deadlines that we met last year for the iPhone 4S, so that its launch would have been scheduled for early October. However, precisely the good reception of the Samsung Galaxy S3 would have caused more than concern among those of Cupertino, hence the advance "" at least, "advance" based on the unofficial forecasts "" sometime between August and September.
In spite of everything, Foxconn would have indicated that a problem with the supply of the batteries of the new device would have ruined the agenda of the company in charge of the manufacture of the device, which would translate into a postponement in relation to these scheduled times.
