The new touch tablets from the French Archos will see the light very soon. As reported by the company itself in a press release, the new generation Archos G9 is expected to hit the market before the end of this year 2011. Although being more specific, the intention is that they will be available for this coming Christmas.
Archos is still determined to get a piece of the cake that other companies are hoarding in the sector. And the new generation is made up of two models: an eight-inch and a 10-inch. The specific models are the Archos 80 G9 and Archos 101 G9; tablets based on Google's Android and that include powerful dual-core processor with a working frequency that reaches 1.5 GHz.
Both models will go on the market with the Android Honeycomb version installed, although the manufacturer has already reported that in the next year the two models will receive the pertinent update to Android 4.0, the version that will unite the mobile phone sector and that of tablets. In addition, to take full advantage of the qualities of the icon system, both models will have screens with a resolution in high definition: 1280 x 800 in the 10-inch model and 1024 x 768 in the eight-inch model.
Neither Archos 80 G9 nor Archos 101 G9 have a 3G connection. However, in the back there will be a small hole where you can insert a USB modem, which will be completely hidden and integrated into the chassis. The name given to this modem is the Archos G9 Key, which will cost 50 euros. Finally, the prices being considered for Europe are 350 euros or a little less, a market that has been chosen for its launch in the first instance.
