Chinese mobile phone companies (ZTE, Huawei, etc.) are playing a key role in the smartphone market. During the third quarter of 2013, Huawei managed to position itself as the third company with the most sales of smartphones in the world. By 2014 it is expected that these Chinese companies will be able to sell more than 200 million mobile phones on all the continents of the planet, including also the European market.
According to digitimes.com, a Chinese newspaper specialized in technology, the four leading mobile phone companies in China (ZTE, Huawei, Coolpad and Lenovo) expect to sell more than 50 million smartphones each of them during 2014. That is to say, in total these four companies would be able to sell more than 200 million terminals throughout the planet.
One of the reasons why these companies are going to skyrocket their sales in 2014 is because China Mobile (the main mobile phone operator in China) has announced that it will seek to enter fully into ultra-fast 4G Internet connections within Chinese territory. To offer 4G services to Chinese customers, the company will need some 40 million smartphones that are compatible with the new ultra-fast Internet technology.
In addition to these four leading companies, other companies that are also well known in Europe such as Xiaomi could closely follow their competitors, achieving more than 40 million sales during the next year. If the forecasts of all Chinese companies for 2014 are added together, the final figure is around 300 million smartphones of Chinese origin that are expected to be sold worldwide.
These data show that users are increasingly placing trust in Chinese companies within the technology sector. This is indicated by the fact that Huawei has managed to position itself as the third company with the largest presence in the mobile telephony market during the third quarter of 2013.
Even with how striking these figures can be, the truth is that large European companies continue to have the absolute leadership of the smartphone market. A good example of this is that only Samsung already plans to sell more than 330 million terminals during 2014, something that far exceeds the sales that Chinese companies will obtain individually. Still, it is a good thing that there is this fierce competition as it helps European companies continue to work piecemeal to offer the best quality products at reasonable prices.
The main reason why there is increasing interest in Chinese smartphones is summarized in the quality / price ratio of these terminals. A smartphone of Chinese origin can offer similar features to those of a European smartphone at a much lower price.
