The Huawei P20 Lite came in order to improve as much as possible the Huawei P10 Lite, the little brother. Between these devices there are many differences, as many as similarities. Both are terminals that include powerful specifications at an economical price, have a good design and an eight-core processor. But… are there enough differences between two models? The truth is that yes, and we will tell you about them below.
Design: same line, new trends
We see a clear design makeover between the Huawei P10 Lite and Huawei P10 Lite. The P10 Lite model has a flat glass back. In its upper area, a small band where the lens and the LED flash are collected. Just below, the fingerprint reader. As well as the Huawei logo. The P20 Lite also has a glass rear, but we see more news. For example, the rear has rounded corners that provide better grip. In addition, we see a dual camera in a vertical position, accompanied by an LED flash and a fingerprint reader in the center.
Rear P10 Lite
On the front there are also big changes. The P10 Lite didn't quite catch up with the frameless display trend, so we see fairly pronounced bezels at the top and bottom. Also, with a non-wide screen format (16: 9). In contrast, the P20 Lite incorporates minimal frames both in the lower and upper areas. At the bottom, we only find the Huawei logo. In the upper area, a notch that collects the front camera, sensors, notification LEDs and a speaker for calls. With the notch, also called 'Notch', we can have an all-screen feel. But if you don't like it, you can always hide it.
Other highlights of the design is that both models include a USB C connection and a headphone jack. Neither terminal includes wireless charging.
The evolution of screens
As we mentioned before, the main difference between these two models is the screen. Not so much its resolution, but its format. The Huawei P20 Lite follows the trends of this 2018, carry a screen with hardly any frames and with a panoramic format. In this case, and thanks to the notch that allows us to take more advantage of the front, it stays at 19: 9. On the other hand, the P10 Lite does not have a panoramic format, nor minimal frames. Therefore, we will not be able to enjoy the full screen feeling.
Front Huawei P20 Lite
And what about the resolution and technology of the panel? Here we hardly see any changes. Both the Huawei P10 Lite and the Huawei P20 Lite include LCD technology. Both with Full HD resolution, although in the case of the most recent model, it has full HD +. That is, more pixels are added due to their change in size. And speaking of size, here we do find some differences. The P10 Lite has a 5.2-inch screen, while the P20 is enlarged to 5.84 inches.
Performance, RAM and autonomy, differences?
The Huawei P20 Lite evolves a little more in terms of performance. If we compare its technical specifications, we see that there is a small evolution in its processor. The Huawei P10 Lite includes an eight-core Kirin 658 processor with 4 GB of RAM. The P20 lite, a Kirin 659, eight cores and 4 GB of RAM.
A performance evolution that will hardly be noticed on a day-to-day basis. Perhaps the P20 Lite is capable of performing more processes, opening apps in a faster way and supporting some other higher performance games.
On the battery, both have 3,000 mAh and fast charging. There are no differences.
Cameras, the Huawei P20 Lite wins with one more
Dual sensor Huawei P20 Lite
Again, differences. Dual main lens for the P20 Lite, a single camera for the Huawei P10 Lite. These are its main specifications.
- Huawei P10 Lite: 12 megapixels, LED flash
- Huawei P20 Lite: 16 (RGB) + 2 megapixels (monochrome), LED Flash f / 2.2
Apart from improvements in resolution, light and final processing. There are very interesting differences. The Huawei P10 Lite allows us to take pictures without any configuration. On the other hand, with the P20 Lite we can take photos with a blur effect. In addition, the second sensor is monochrome, which will allow us to take black and white photographs, with results similar to that of the Huawei P20 or P20 Pro.
software
The changes that we find in this section have to do with the version and Software. The P20 Lite is on Android 8.0 Oreo, while the P10 Lite is on Android Nougat. Both with EMUI, where we find very few differences, including picture in picture for the P20 Lite and other improvements that Google has incorporated to its latest version of Android available.
Prices and conclusions.
The Huawei P10 Lite has an approximate price of about 230 euros. Its starting price was about 350 euros. The Huawei P20 Lite recently came out on the market, and it costs about 370 euros. Both models are very good alternatives, two complete devices, with a good processor, a good camera and very interesting extra functions. But there is no doubt that the Huawei P20 Lite is a clear (and also good) evolution, with a screen that fits the trend of this year, a premium design and a powerful processor. In addition, with a double main camera that adds many more options and configurations.
