1. Design and display
One of the main differences between the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 8 is found in the design. This year, the company has significantly reduced the frames, lowering the bottom edge by 40%. The main objective is that the screen is the main protagonist of the terminal, in fact it occupies 90.7% of the front. In any case, the notch or notch is still present. This year in the form of a drop of water, so it is less prominent than the one that includes the Mi 8.

The back of the Mi 9 also looks very different from that of the Mi 8. It is much cleaner, without the presence of the fingerprint reader, with a triple sensor located in a vertical position. The device is still constructed of shiny glass with slightly rounded edges.
The screen also offers a different size. The one of the Mi 8 is 6.21 inches of AMOLED type with a resolution of 2,248 x 1,080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18: 9. E l My 9 includes a Super AMOLED 6.39 inches and resolution of 1080 x 2280 with a ratio of 19: 9. In addition, Game Turbo technology has been added, which will provide a higher quality when viewing any type of content. It even allows you to improve performance when playing.
2. Fingerprint reader under the screen
If last year we had to resort to the Explorer edition of the Mi 8 to have a fingerprint reader under the screen, this year it will not be necessary. This feature is included in the standard version of the Mi 9, which has contributed to improving the design and comfort.

3. Power and RAM
How could it be otherwise, the Mi 9 is powered by a more powerful processor than the Mi 8, this is another of the big differences this year. The terminal has a Snapdragon 855, the latest beast from Qualcomm along with a 6 or 8 GB RAM, depending on the version. It must be remembered that the Mi 8 landed with a Snapdragon 845 and 6 GB of RAM. For internal storage, the 64, 128 and 256 GB are maintained, yes, without the possibility of expansion.

4. Camera
The Xiaomi Mi 8 surprised at the time with its double 12 megapixel camera, a resolution that now increases significantly in this new generation. And not just the resolution. The company this year has included three sensors on the back of the Mi 9. The main lens offers a resolution of 48 megapixels, aperture of f / 1.8 and pixel size of 0.8 µm. The second lens is a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens with f / 2.2 aperture. Finally, the third lens is a 12 megapixel telephoto lens, which we would like to test in greater detail when the terminal goes on sale in Spain. Another advantage is that this trio is reinforced by artificial intelligence technology to optimize captures.
The camera for selfies has also undergone changes. From 20 megapixels last year it has gone to 24 megapixels, so we expect better selfies in any situation.

5. Battery and operating system
With respect to the Mi 8, the Xioami Mi 9 has improved in all its features, also in the battery section. The equipment has a 3,500 mAh with fast charge, compared to the 3,300 mAh of its predecessor. We think that the fact that it has a larger screen, as well as a triple camera could equal the duration of last year, even be somewhat lower. However, it is always an advantage that it has fast charging, something that allows you to charge more than half of the terminal's battery in a few minutes.
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will land governed by Android 9 Pie together with the customization layer of the MiUI 10 company. For now, its price and date of departure in Spain are unknown. The Mi 8 can currently be purchased at a price of around 400 euros.
