Brand Honor of Huawei has already presented the smartphone Honor 8 officially for the European market, after being released in China and the United States. The terminal has a 5.2-inch screen, a very attractive design and technical specifications very similar to those of the Huawei P9 (although with a much lower price), so the brand hopes to reach a younger audience.
An eye-catching design
For the Honor 8, the brand has decided to bet on a striking design, created with up to 15 layers of glass for the back and with the main objective of achieving a terminal capable of reflecting light and creating glossy effects.
On the other hand, the smartphone has all rounded edges, in a finish that is quite reminiscent of the one found on the Huawei P9 Lite phone.
The screen is 5.2 inches with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), and it is presented with hardly any side edges. On this front, below the screen, there is also a glass strip with the Honor logo.
The fingerprint reader is located at the rear.
The terminal inside: in the line of the Huawei P9
The Honor 8 has an eight-core Kirin 950 processor, a 3000 mAh battery (offers fast charging, up to 1 hour and a half of autonomy with only 10 minutes of charge) and 4 GB of RAM. There are two versions available, which differ in internal storage capacity: 32GB or 64GB.
Considering these characteristics, the similarities with the Huawei P9 are obvious. The price, however, varies, and is considerably lower in the case of the Honor 8: 400 euros for the 32 GB version, and 450 euros for the 64 GB version.
The terminal uses the Android 6 Marshmallow operating system and the Emotion UI customization layer in version 4.1.
More security in the fingerprint reader
One of the most important new features introduced by the Honor 8 in terms of security is the incorporation of an extra factor in the analysis of the fingerprints for unlocking the phone or applications. In addition to the lines of the fingerprints, their size and distribution, the Honor 8 reader also incorporates a 3D sensor capable of analyzing the depth of the grooves, making identity theft in the fingerprint reader much more difficult.
Smart button on the fingerprint reader
The fingerprint sensor of the Honor 8 is also a key that can be pressed and configured to activate some functions or shortcuts to applications. For example: press twice to take a screenshot (which saves you from having to change the grip to use the button commands), press and hold to open Facebook, etc.
12 megapixel dual camera
The Honor 8 smartphone has a dual main camera, with two 12-megapixel Sony sensors ( one for color and one for monochrome). For the rest, the capture and recording modes are quite similar to those offered by the latest Huawei terminals such as the P9 model.
The front camera is 8 megapixels and incorporates a face beauty enhancement function for which the phone captures a photo from the front, another from the side and another from below and reconstructs the most significant details of the face to optimize beauty corrections.
