The Samsung Galaxy S9 is now official. It is possibly one of the most anticipated terminals of this year. That is why we have been after him and his leaks for a long time. Samsung, as we well know, is a South Korean firm whose terminals manage to create a trend in the market. We have seen this especially in the matter of screens, either because of the quality and technology of the panel and because of its infinite design.
This year Samsung was not going to be less with its Samsung Galaxy S9, the changes at first glance may seem not very spectacular, but when we get into them they are most surprising. We have a renewed camera that is an engineering exercise that we will explain later, bet on Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality.
Next, we will see in more detail the most important characteristics of the new Samsung Galaxy S9, available already in pre-sale at a price of 850 euros. His arrival is expected from next March 8.

1. Dual aperture camera
One of the most important news, if not the most important is the camera. We know that every year the Samsung Galaxy range manages to place itself on the podium of the best cameras in mobile phones. This year, in the absence of seeing the photography results, we can guess that it will be one of the best cameras on the market. The reason is clear, this is the first smartphone to have a variable aperture camera.
Earlier we said that what Samsung has achieved in the Samsung Galaxy S9 is an exercise in engineering. And it is, because they have managed to place a mechanism that is capable of opening and closing the diaphragm of the lens so that it uses one or the other focal length depending on the brightness. This means that it is an "intelligent" sensor since it will be able to detect different light situations and adapt to them.
We have a focal length of 2.4 to 1.5, we see that Samsung has wanted to provide its new flagship terminal with a spectacular camera. The focal length 1.5 will be used in low light situations as it can capture much more light while the 2.4 will be used in outdoor situations where the lighting is good. In addition to this the Samsung Galaxy S9 carries a noise reduction technology.
Technology for noise reduction includes the new terminal of Samsung is called noise reduction multiframe (noise multiframe reduction) This technology is responsible for making up to 12 photos at a time to combine and reduce up to 30% noise in the resulting photo.
2. Samsung Exynos 9810, a 10 nanometer processor
Many expected a leap in its processors from Samsung. Go from 10 nanometers to 7 nanometers. We have seen that this has not been the case despite all the advantages that this would entail. But for this reason the Samsung Exynos 9810 is not less powerful or worse. In fact, it is a state-of-the-art processor with really cool features.
Among its many advantages we can highlight several main characteristics. First of all, we have to be built to support artificial intelligence (we'll talk about this later). Second, we have download speeds much higher than the previous generation, 1.2Gbps download and 200Mbps upload. These speeds will allow us to consume content at 4K without any connection problem.
This processor is the neural center of the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and also influences the image processing, in fact, thanks to the technology of this processor we can implement noise reduction technologies that we discussed before and recording at 960 fps in HD that we will talk more ahead.
3. Slow motion at 960 frames per second
Samsung has not forgotten the lovers of video recording. The Samsung Galaxy S9 features slow motion at 960 frames per second in HD resolution. So far only Sony with the Xperia XZ1 had this technology. It is seen that Samsung has wanted to provide its new terminal with this ability.
This novelty is thanks to adding specific DRAM memory for image processing. So the sensor is capable of capturing a greater number of images per second. When we have recorded the video in super slow motion we can convert it into a GIF to share with friends and family
4. Bet on augmented reality
The Samsung Galaxy S9 includes a system called AR Emoji. This system is capable of scanning a face and turning it into an Emoji that can represent the emotions of the user it has scanned. In other words, we can move our face, make gestures and the Emojis will repeat them in real time.
The AR Emoji works as follows. We have to make an image which will be scanned to detect 100 key points of our face that will then transform into the Emoji. The result can be shared by any messaging application, both as a GIF and as an image.
5. Artificial Intelligence in the Samsung Galaxy S9
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is an even smarter phone. This is thanks to the fact that the processor is built to support artificial intelligence. Thanks to this, we fear the AR Emoji system, for example, but this has also reached Samsung's virtual assistant. Bixby is now much smarter and more capable.
One of the novelties is Bixby vision, now the assistant is capable of translating texts in other languages in real time. Which is a great advantage compared to the first version of the assistant. But this does not stop there, but it can show places through augmented reality and detect what we are eating to show approximate calories.
6. Iris scanner
The Samsung Galaxy S9 has several security measures. The main and most common that smartphones use is the fingerprint reader that we have talked about in the previous point. But the new Samsung terminal also has an iris scanner and facial recognition.
With this we have three security measures in the same terminal so we do not have to worry if our Samsung Galaxy S9 falls into the hands of others since it is practically unlikely that they will be able to access it using traditional methods.
7. AKG speakers with Dolby Atmos
Sound is a section that few manufacturers strive to improve. Many terminals have a single speaker at the bottom through which the audio comes out when we teach a video to friends or play. So it is easy for us to cover it when we turn the mobile. Samsung has wanted to improve the sound of the S9 compared to the S8 and for this it has included two speakers signed by AKG. These are located at the bottom and top of the mobile. In addition, they have the Dolby Atmos certification so we have a surround sound, more defined and with greater power without distorting.
8. Fingerprint reader in the right place
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 + were criticized for where they had the fingerprint reader. This time Samsung has learned its lesson and the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + have the fingerprint reader in a comfortable position for the user. It is specifically under the camera or cameras so it is easy to access when using the phone.
9. A design with a more used screen and extra functionalities
Samsung's Super AMOLED screens are among the best on the market, it is something that does not allow discussion. The screen of your flagship terminal lives up to your expectations. This change is almost negligible at first glance, but if we look we see that the screen of the new Samsung terminal is better used than the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
We see a reduction of lower and upper frames quite marked, so much so that the screen format has changed and instead of being 18: 9 it is now 18.5: 9 so it is more panoramic. This is a great improvement for consuming multimedia content and web browsing. By improving the screen they have also added extra functionalities such as being able to reply to a message while watching a movie without being interrupted by the screen.
