Redmi, sub-brand of Xiaomi, returns to the charge with a new device that comes to replace the Xiaomi Redmi 6 that we met last June. Almost 12 months later, the Asian firm surprises with a renewed design, more power, an improved photographic section for selfies, maintaining the philosophy that characterizes it: an affordable price, accessible to all budgets. The new Redmi 7 now offers a main panel, which grows to 6.2 inches with almost no frames and with a notch in the shape of a drop of water.
The battery also increases in size and from 3,000 mAh last year it has now gone to 4,000 mAh (with fast charge). To all this we must add that the Redmi 7 comes standard with the latest version of Google's mobile platform, Android 9 along with the company's personalization layer MIUI 10. At the moment, we do not know when the terminal will go on sale in Spain, although there is talk of a price starting at 100 euros. Read on if you are interested in knowing the five key differences from its predecessor.

1. More screen with notch
At the design level, the Xiaomi Redmi 7 has inherited the materials from last year's model. It is still built in polycarbonate and glass, although this time the front notch in the shape of a drop of water has been targeted. This greatly benefits the panel, which looks more protagonist, with almost no frames on both sides and with a size that has grown slightly. From the 5.45 inches of the Redmi 6, the Redmi 7 has gone up to 6.26 inches, with the same HD + resolution and an aspect ratio of 19: 9.

The rear is more worn, but there are several details that have changed. The main sensor is located vertically instead of horizontally. In addition, the Redmi seal looks a bit lower, softening the look, which is now more minimalist and clean. The fingerprint reader is present again almost in the central part. Regarding the dimensions, it must be said that the Redmi 7 is thicker and considerably heavier than the Redmi 6: 147.46 × 71.49 × 8.3 mm and 146 grams of weight (Redmi 6) VS 158.65 × 76.43 × 8.47 millimeters and 180 grams of weight (Redmi 7).
2. Processor
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 landed on the market with a MediaTek Helio P22 processor along with 3 or 4 GB of RAM. The Redmi 7 this year includes an eight-core Snapdragon 632 along with 2, 3 and 4 GB of RAM. That is, we have a version with a smaller RAM for those who do not need too much power. This smaller RAM is accompanied by 16 GB of storage, a capacity that was not available last year either. The other versions continue to offer 16 and 32 GB.
3. AI selfie camera
The photographic section is another of the marked differences between both models. Although it seems incredible, the main sensor has not improved anything at all, on the contrary. Last year's setting was 12 + 5 megapixels and this year it's 12 +2 megapixels. The aperture is still f / 2.2 and the pixels are 1.12um in size. Where if there are improvements is in the front sensor, which offers 8 megapixels instead of 5, accompanied by the usual beauty mode and artificial intelligence to perfect the captures.

4. Battery
Another of the big differences between the Redmi 6 and Redmi 7 is found in the battery. The Redmi 6 came with a 3,000 mAh without fast charging. The Redmi 7 has 4,000 mAh with fast charge. This means that we can enjoy more than a full day without the problems of having to search for an outlet in a hurry.

5. Operating system
Finally, the new Xiaomi Redmi 7 will be governed by Android 9, the latest version of Google's mobile platform, along with MIUI 10. This version introduced important changes, such as an adaptive battery system to save autonomy depending on the use that is give the device. The Redmi 6 has Android 8, upgradeable to Pie for a few days.
