This year Samsung launched a new range with the letter M made up of mid-range mobiles with current features. Among them are the Samsung Galaxy M30 and Samsung Galaxy M40. Both have a large infinite screen, with hardly any frames, triple camera or a processor ready to move current apps and simple games. However, despite being part of the same family, they include different characteristics that are worth highlighting.
At the moment neither of them is sold in Spain and we do not know if they will arrive, so if you are interested, you will have no choice but to turn to the international market. Read on to learn the top five differences between the Galaxy M30 and M40.
Comparative sheet
1. Display and design
Even though the Samsung Galaxy M30 has a slightly larger screen, it offers a lower resolution than the Galaxy M40. Specifically, it includes a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a Full HD resolution of 1,080 x 2,280 pixels. The M40 has a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen and FullHD + resolution(2,340 x 1080 pixels). Likewise, the design has also changed for the better in the new generation. Instead of including a waterdrop-shaped notch, it now has a perforation in the display to give the panel even more space. According to the company, the Galaxy M40 manages to achieve a screen-to-body ratio of 91.8%. However, both models boast slim bezels, slightly rounded edges and a clean-looking rear (with the Samsung logo dominating the middle). Neither is missing a fingerprint reader a little higher than that logo.
In terms of dimensions, we can say that the M40 is more stylish and thin: 155.3 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm and 168 grams of weight VS the 159 x 75.1 x 8.5 mm and 174 grams of weight of the Galaxy M30.
2. Processor and memory
The Samsung Galaxy M30 comes powered by an eight-core Exynos 7904 processor, accompanied by 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 512 GB). In the case of the Galaxy M40, it houses an eight-core Snapdragon 675 and a 6 GB RAM memory. The internal storage reaches up to 128 GB (expandable via microSD). Therefore, the latter is only available in a single version.
3. Photographic section
Both the Samsung Galaxy M30 and the Galaxy M40 include a triple main camera. However, that of the M40 is superior. In the latter we have, on the one hand, a first 32-megapixel sensor with f / 1.7 aperture, followed by another 5-megapixel sensor with f / 2.2 aperture and a third 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f / 2.2 aperture. This trio is reinforced by artificial intelligence, thanks to which we will be able to improve our captures in all kinds of situations.
For its part, the three sensors of the Galaxy M30 are arranged as follows: a 13 MP sensor with f / 1.9 aperture, a second 5 MP wide-angle sensor and a third 5 MP sensor with f / 2.2 aperture.
4. Battery
Another of the sections where these two models present differences is in the battery. While the Samsung Galaxy M30 equips a battery of nothing more and nothing less than 5,000 mAh with fast charging of 15W, that of the Galaxy M40 drops to 3,500 mAh capacity. Despite this, it still maintains the 15W fast charge of its range brother. It is curious how a mobile that was launched months later, and that is supposed to be an evolution of the M30 with improved characteristics, includes a lower-amperage battery. However, we think that we will have a full day without problem making average use of the terminal.
5. Availability
Given that the Galaxy M40 was launched a few days ago, at the moment the device is only sold in India at a price around 255 euros at the exchange. We do not think that it will reach Spain, but it will be possible to buy through the international market. In fact, the M30 can already be purchased in stores of this type. For example, Amazon sells it through a store known as Tienda Siglo XXI, whose price reaches 286 euros (plus 3 euros for shipping costs). It is the brand new device expected to arrive between June 26 and 29 if you order it today.
