iOS 14 will not arrive on your iPhone until fall of this year, but Apple will announce its news soon, so that developers can test the functions and adapt their services and applications to them. The leaks about this next version of iOS are premature. That is why we have decided to think about what are those features that we would like to see in this iOS 14. These are the 10 functions and improvements that we expect.
Greater control with keyboard and mouse
This feature of iOS 14 is more related to the iPad and iPad OS. Apple announced with this first version of the operating system for iPad mouse support, but it is only available through the accessibility options and the truth is that it is somewhat cumbersome. We'd love to see more keyboard and mouse control so that we can quickly dock the peripheral via bluetooth and use it just like on the Mac or PC. The same with the keyboard.
Fortunately, it is something that seems to be coming true. The latest leaks claim that the next version of iOS could have a much more accessible keyboard and mouse support to any user.
Bug Fix
iOS 13 is one of the versions with the most bugs in Apple's history, as the company has been forced to release important patches to solve (or at least try) the different problems in this version. We still find minor bugs, but they keep popping up quite frequently. Hopefully Apple will solve all these problems in iOS 14 and offer us a much more stable version, without the need to constantly update the iPhone or iPad to solve those errors.
A notification for calls
2020 and still, when we receive a call and we are using the iPhone, we stop seeing what we are doing to see all the information of the incoming call. It is really tedious, especially when you are playing games or watching a video. Apple does not offer the ability to hide that call and follow the content, unless we decline or answer it. We hope to see that this usability problem is solved, and the truth is that it is something quite simple.
Simply notifying of the call in the form of a notification, as if it were a text message. This is something that most Android devices already do. Such adding a notification widget is not the most suitable for Apple, but they can add an option in the incoming call interface to silence it and continue with what we were doing on the mobile without having to hang up.
Ability to add Widgets on the home screen
In iOS we can add Widgets to see relevant information of the different applications of our iPhone. For example, a battery widget to know the level of each accessory. Or one of the calendar to know the next event. These widgets are hidden on the side in iOS 13. The truth is that we would like to see it on the home screen, along with the applications. In this way they are much more visible. For example, add a weather widget on the first page, another to control the lights on the second, etc.
These Widgets could also dock to the lock screen. So that we know, for example, the battery level without having to unlock the iPhone.
Shortcuts on the lock screen
It would be great if Apple added the ability to create shortcuts on the lock screen. That is, small icons on the first screen, before unlocking the iPhone, to be able to perform quick actions. For example, turn on the lights, activate an alarm or make a rune call. Currently we only have a direct access to the camera and the possibility to see the widgets on the other side.
Siri and the renewal we want
Siri is one of the most important assistants. But the truth is that it is one of the 'less intelligent' assistants. That is, the answers are not as complete as those we can see in Alexa or the Google Assistant. We want a great Siri revamp with a smarter assistant that answers a lot more questions and allows us to create routines or take other actions. We would also like to see improvements in the wizard interface so that we can control accessories directly etc.
Apple, let me choose the app I want to use
Apple has a closed ecosystem of services and applications, and these come by default on the iPhone. Unfortunately, the system does not let us choose which application we want to use by default on our mobile. For example, instead of Safari, Google Chrome. This is something that Android does, and we want to see in iOS 14. Fortunately, it seems that Apple could open its ecosystem and allow you to choose other applications by default. Especially in Mail and Safari.
Split screen
This function is already available on the iPad, and would be very useful on the iPhone. Especially in those models with a larger screen. With the split screen we could use two applications at the same time, without having to be browsing between apps and losing content. The split screen is very useful if, for example, you are filling out a form with your DNI data. So you can have an image of the DNI in the upper area and the web to complete the data in the lower part.
Always-on display
Another feature that would be very nice to come to the iPhone. Especially to the models with OLED panel: the screen always on. It is a feature that allows us to see relevant information without the need to have the screen fully turned on, since in the OLED panels the black ones are off pixels. In this 'Always-on' screen we could have the time, time and relevant information of the applications.
Improvements in some applications
Apple improved the maps app with iOS 13. In the next version of the operating system we would like to see an improvement in other apps, such as Mail or Calendar. Maybe with a new design and more options to get the most out of them.
