Next February 21 will be an intense day in terms of presentations of new devices. That day, Samsung and LG will present their new high-end terminals at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. LG has confirmed today that the new LG G5 will incorporate the Always On Display function.
A little over a week before the start of the Mobile World Congress, rumors and leaks continue to arrive about the most interesting new terminals of 2016. As well as the Samsung Galaxy S7, all that is known is due to these leaks, LG is leaving us small official clues on their social media accounts. The Korean company has confirmed on its Twitter and Facebook accounts that the LG G5 will incorporate the Always On Display function, that is, the screen will always remain on.
LG has confirmed this functionality by publishing an animated image showing a series of mobile devices turning off, while the LG G5 screen remains on. Based on the image, it seems that the LG G5 will keep a small part of the screen on showing the time, date and a series of notifications in an off white on a black background.
Thus, everything indicates that the term "Always On Display" will be heard frequently at this year's Mobile World Congress. Recall that the Samsung Galaxy S7 seems that it could also include an always-on screen, although at the moment Samsung has not confirmed anything.
This new feature, although interesting, will not be decisive for users to choose the new LG flagship. The Korean terminal should offer much more. And according to rumors and leaks, it could be. The LG G5 could arrive with a renewed design, presumably with a metal body. Leaked images predict that it will incorporate a fingerprint scanner on its rear, just below the camera. The characteristic button on the back of the LG G4, would move to the sides, thus following the market trend.
Another great novelty that the LG G5 could incorporate is a dual camera, or so it seems to be observed in the leaks that have appeared so far. The LG G4 camera became one of the best on the market last year, so it is to be expected that LG will incorporate some new features in this regard.
Another of the protagonists of the MWC could be the Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm. This new chipset seems to be the one chosen by the vast majority of manufacturers to incorporate it into their flagships. The LG G5 could not be less and, according to rumors, it will mount the Snapdragon 820 processor accompanied by 4 GB of RAM.
As for the screen, rumors point to a 5.3-inch screen. What is still not clear is whether LG will continue with the QHD resolution or will surprise by including a 4K screen. The LG G5 could also inherit the dual display featured in the LG V10. It is a secondary screen located in the highest part of the device, next to the front camera.
LG is a manufacturer that has always wanted to stand out from the rest, offering something never seen before. For example, for the new Korean flagship there has been talk of an iris scanner instead of the typical fingerprint sensor. The possibility that is also rumored LG G5 includes a removable battery with a removable system located at the bottom of the device.
We will remain attentive to the manufacturer's social networks in case they give any more clues about the new LG G5 before its official presentation, set for February 21.
