As we announced a few days ago, the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 + and S10e are beginning to receive the June security update. This patch is currently rolling out only in China for models with a Qualcomm processor. However, in recent hours it has also started to be launched in Switzerland for devices with Exynos chip, and in this case with surprise.
The new security update for the trio of Galaxy S10 devices powered by the Exynos processor is said to include the functionality to read QR codes natively in the Camera app. In this way, instead of having to resort to third-party applications, Samsung's flagship terminals will be able to point to a QR code directly when opening the camera application and thus obtain the necessary information. This feature was previously implemented on Galaxy S9 devices in an Android update.
The good news is that the devices sold in Spain have an Exynos processor, so it is a matter of days or weeks before you can enjoy these new features. To be able to scan QR codes with your Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 + or S10e, you just have to open the camera of the mobile and point at one. Of course, previously you will have to have enabled the reader in the camera options. It should be noted that the update adds a shortcut to scan QR codes on the notification screen of the terminals. When you press this button, the camera app will open with QR recognition already activated.
For now, it seems that this is the only functionality that comes to the Samsung Galaxy S10 with the June security update. For the rest, it is very important to install it, and not only because it has a native QR code scanner, but also because it corrects a series of important errors and bugs related to the Android operating system. Specifically, this patch solves more than a dozen high-risk vulnerabilities, as well as eight critical vulnerabilities discovered in Android. To all this we must add that it patches 11 elements of Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE).
