Since the dangerous Stagefright vulnerability came to light, Google decided to launch a series of security updates that are published month by month and that the main manufacturers apply to their most cutting-edge equipment. It is a system to ensure the maximum well-being of users, but above all, to preserve the information they have stored on their phones. And while not all computers receive these updates on time, Google just released the August security update for Android. The update will begin to reach a good part of the devices that work with Android and that are part of what we would call "high-end". It should be noted, however, that this update is somewhat special because, like the one in July, it is divided into two parts.
The first part will bring a whole series of security patches and is available from yesterday, August 1. We are talking about important improvements that can be applied to any phone and that are related to the software. Thus, starting on August 5, a second update will be released that will work on another level. And it is that it is a data package that has to solve the existing problems between drivers, components and Qualcomm hardware.
Be that as it may, the first to receive it will be the Nexus terminals. It seems that all models linked to Google will receive the data package from this August 5. It is possible, however, that both updates will arrive in one package, as happened in some regions with the July update. What if my device takes time to receive it or finally does not receive it? In that case you can rest easy. Experts consider that the current situation of Android is not at all worrisome, so without the latest update, nothing serious would happen either. In fact, none of the vulnerabilities that are fixedthis time they have been exploited by cybercriminals. We can say, then, that everything is relatively calm.
The update in question will be made available to users via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) and the first to receive it, as we have said, will be the Nexus terminals. The deployment will begin shortly and will extend for 10 or 14 days. Later it will begin to circulate for the devices of the rest of the brands. In any case, all you have to do is be aware of the notice to start the download as soon as possible. It would also be recommended that you have a well-charged phone battery (minimum 50%) and that you are connected to a stable WiFi network. If you don't want to wait any longer and you have a Nexus, you canaccess the factory images that Google has just published and that you already have at your disposal for download.
