It is taking quite a while for Android 8 to reach a large number of mid-range models. Although Samsung is one of the manufacturers that works faster so that their devices can enjoy this latest version, it seems that some will still have to wait a bit. A list published by the company reveals that devices such as the Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 will not have Oreo until next December. This means that by the time it begins its deployment, Android P, the latest version of the platform, will have already made an appearance on other devices.
The list also includes other models in addition to the J7 2017, such as the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro, and the 2016 and 2018 variants of the Galaxy On7. Also, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2017) will receive Oreo in October, while this version will arrive on the Galaxy J7 Max in November. As Samsung assures, the update schedule could change due to "development and approval processes." In any case, we can say that Oreo is taking much longer to reach some devices compared to the time it took for its predecessors to receive the Nougat update. For example, the Galaxy J7 (2016) was updated to Android 7 in early September 2017. This is a difference of three months, which is quite a lot for anyone who is eagerly waiting for a new version.
And what Samsung mobiles have already been able to update to Android 8? Oreo is already present in the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 and Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 since last April. In May it also landed on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and just a few days ago it did the same on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. They have also updated models such as the Galaxy S8 or the Note 8. However, there are still enough waiting for their portion of Oreo.
