Shortly before the CES 2015 technology event, rumors appeared that the American company Kodak could present its first smartphone with Android operating system at this event. And the fact is that the rumors were right, since Kodak has just introduced its new Kodak IM5, a smartphone that includes among its features a display of five inches and a main camera of 13 megapixels. The launch of the Kodak IM5 in Europe is scheduled for this year 2015, and its starting price will be around a figure close to 300 euros.
The Kodak IM5 is presented as a smartphone that we could perfectly include within the mid-range of the mobile phone sector. The five-inch screen of this terminal reaches an HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution. The processor is hidden under the shell is a MediaTek (model yet to be specified) of eight cores that functions in company with a memory RAM of 1 gigabyte.
The internal storage capacity of the Kodal IM5 is somewhat scarce if we consider that we are facing a smartphone apparently designed with the multimedia aspect in mind. The internal memory space is 8 GigaBytes, although it can be expanded by an external microSD card of up to 32 GigaBytes. The factory installed operating system corresponds to Android in its version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat, although from the American website TheVerge they assure that Kodak has commented that it will update this mobile to Android 5.0 Lollipop throughout the year 2015.
Being a smartphone from a company specializing in the world of photography, the truth is that - at least on paper - the Kodak IM5 camera is not particularly surprising. The main camera has a sensor 13 megapixel camera (with LED flash), while the front camera comes with a sensor to five megapixels.
Talking about megapixels when determining the quality of a camera is very hasty, but considering that we are talking about Kodak's first smartphone, it is not far from reality to mention that many users expected something similar to the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom of Samsung, for example. Still, it seems that what Kodak has wanted to do with the Kodak IM5 is to offer users a wide range of options related to the photographs taken with the mobile camera. Photos can be printed, shared and editedquite visually from the terminal interface itself; Nothing that cannot be done through third-party applications on any other mobile, of course.
The Kodak IM5 will be available in Europe during the first quarter of this year, and its arrival in stores will occur with a starting price set at a figure close to 300 euros.
