In this of portable gadgets, 2011 will mark a very clear line in three fields: tablets, dual-core processors and, quite possibly, small 3D screens. As a common vertex, one of these points commands attention. The chips dual core seems to be vital to get a step up on tablets and smartphones. That is why it is hardly surprising that the next editions of Apple's flagship devices, the iPhone 5 and iPad 2, will be equipped with this technology.
As pointed out by the Rodman & Renshaw consultancy, the presence of dual-core processors in the next portable devices from Cupertino will be a fact. So much so that Ashok Kumar, an employee of the market analysis company, even dares to point out which technology Apple would have already chosen to equip its iPhone 5 and iPad 2 with the necessary power for this generation: we would be talking about the ARM Cortex A9 at one GHz per core.
Although as usual Apple does not confirm or deny the existence of the dual-core processor in the iPad 2 and iPhone 5, it seems more than logical that this is the case. The NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip will be one of the candidates to capitalize on the attention of the sector in the LG Optimus 2X, the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. In addition, even from RIM they are jumping on the dual-core train, and their BlackBerry PlayBook will bet on this technology that ensures powerful processing capacity.
Recall that in the case of the iPhone 5 it has been said that we could witness the premiere of Apple in stereoscopic technology, incorporating a 3D screen that does not require glasses in the next Applephone. LG Display, Apple's exclusive supplier of panels for mobile devices (at least, until Toshiba completes its new plant in Japan), would have developed its own technology to equip 3D screens for mobiles, and from Cupertino they would have expressed their interest in this countryside. To do this, logically, the presence of adual-core chip would go through something almost fundamental.
