The iPad 2 will be in stores around the world next Friday, March 25. This should not be news, since it is a fact that Steve Jobs himself announced on March 2. However, the supply problems caused by the catastrophe in Japan due to the earthquake that hit the Asian country set off alarms, even considering a possible postponement in the launch schedule for the new tablet from the Cupertino firm.
However, those who have marked on the calendar next Friday as an unavoidable appointment with their Apple store (or substitutes), can breathe easy: the iPad 2 will be ready to sell according to plan.
Japan will have to see the sale date of the iPad 2 postponed, as Apple understands that it is not the most appropriate time for the launch of the device after the catastrophe that occurred in Japan. In spite of everything, it seems that the supply of components from the country is not compromised, so the distribution of the iPad 2 in the rest of the world would not have to be affected by the earthquake.
The iPad 2, as you already know, will arrive this year in multiple versions, which will differ depending on the color we prefer (white or black), the memory (16, 32 or 64 GB) or the connectivity of the device (with or without access to 3G mobile Internet networks). It has a dual-core processor and a dedicated graphics unit, which improves image performance up to nine times over the previous edition.
