Don't do this with your mobile.
IP67 or IP68? You may wonder what the differences are between these two certifications. No, it is not the same, and you have to be careful, since one type of certification offers more protections on our device than on the other. Let's see what it means and what it protects on our mobile.
First of all, it is important to be clear about what an IP ( International Protection) certification means. These types of certifications are added to devices that have a level of resistance to water and dust. Whether they are mobile phones, watches, tablets. The certification is not included by each manufacturer because they believe that their mobile has sufficient protections or because it has passed internal tests, but rather that the terminal has to comply with a series of standards established by the International Electronic Commission (IEC).
What do the numbers mean? It is the level of protection based on the different tests. Therefore, the higher the number, the more protection. Of course, although we usually see two numbers together (67 and 68 in this case) it is not the same. The first number is the level of protection against solid objects, such as sand or dust. The second number is the level of protection against water.
IP67 or IP86, which is better?
Therefore, we already know that IP67 is less protection than IP68. And is that the devices that have IP67 are completely resistant to dust and can be submerged in water less than a meter and no more than 30 minutes. While those that have IP68 certification, they are completely resistant to dust and can be submerged more than one meter deep and more than 30 minutes. Here it is the manufacturer who decides to what level the device can be submerged and for what time. Of course, no more than 7 meters is allowed. Manufacturers normally bet on 1 or 2 meters and approximately 30 or 60 seconds.
Therefore, there are hardly any differences between one certification and another, only that the IP68 can be submerged for longer and deeper, but the manufacturers do not set very exaggerated levels.
