On many occasions we receive calls from telephone numbers that we do not have added, and there are even those who do not answer them because they do not know who is calling. Other times, it is directly about advertising, so we should not attend them, although when we pick up the hook it is too late. With this application, on the other hand, you will be able to know who is calling you even when you don't have their number added.
The app we are talking about is called Truecaller and it is available for both Android and iOS for free. And it not only allows us to search for phones, but when they call us, the name of the other person will appear on the screen. It does not always work, of course, since it does not have all the numbers cataloged, but it does usually work (after all, it has 4 billion phone numbers in its database).
However, we must highlight something: with Truecaller we will not be able to know who called us with a hidden number; this is simply impossible. You could only find out by consulting the operator, and they will not give it to us. Even if we try, we cannot find out in any way.
Identify calls from unknown numbers with Truecaller
Once we have the application downloaded, we accept all the permissions that you request and enter our phone number. We will receive an SMS message with a code that we will have to write in the application (to verify our identity) and later we can use the application. Now, we will have to configure the application so that, when a call arrives, Truecaller tells us who it is.
Configure Truecaller on iOS
On iPhone we will have to go to Settings> Phone and enter the Blocked calls and ID section; once inside we activate a sliding button that says Truecaller. The next time someone calls us we will know who it is in case the number is registered in the domain of the app. The same will happen if it is detected that a call is SPAM.
Configure Truecaller on Android
In Android the process is similar: after having accepted the requested permissions, including changing the default application to send or receive calls. From this moment on, it will not be the typical "Telephone" application through which we will have to call, but Truecaller, so it is advisable to change one icon for another.
