Huawei recently updated its “Y” range with new devices for the lower-middle range. The Huawei Y9, Y7, Y6 or Y5 have some marked differences, although they all have the same goal in common: to satisfy an audience that needs a simple terminal to talk and navigate. Of the four, the Huawei Y9 is the most prominent thanks to its larger screen, dual cameras, eight-core processor or 4,000 mAh battery.
This is followed by the Huawei Y7, which, although it already has a smaller panel, continues to boast a double camera and a 4,000 mAh battery. Huawei Y9 2019
The Huawei Y9 2019 is the most prominent model of this quartet. This is demonstrated by its main characteristics. At the design level, the device is built in glass and metal with a leading front, almost without frames and with a notch to house the front sensor. The screen has a size of 6.5 inches, FullHD + resolution and a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. Something to highlight is that its sides have a 2.5D finish, so the touch will be very pleasant when carrying it in your hand. Also, the buttons are located on the panel itself, since the lower frame is quite small.
Inside the Huawei Y9 there is room for a Kirin 710 processor manufactured in 12 nanometers. This chip is accompanied by 4 or 6 GB of RAM memory or 64 or 128 GB storage (expandable by using microSD type cards). If you are looking for a mid-range that performs enough, of the four, this is your model. Also, with regard to the photographic section, the Y9 has a double main sensor of 16 + 2 megapixels with LED flash, as well as a front sensor, also double, of 13 + 2 megapixels. Therefore, this device includes four cameras. As for the rest of the features, this mobile also has a 4,000 mAh battery, fingerprint reader and Android 8.1 Oreo system under EMUI 8.2.
Huawei Y7 2019
One step below the Huawei Y9 is the Huawei Y7 2019. This model is perfect if you are looking for an affordable mobile that does not lack some current functions, such as a double camera or large battery, and that also has a large screen. The Y7's is 6.26 inches with HD + resolution (1520 x 720 pixels). To all this we must add a design without almost frames with a notch in the shape of a drop of water (somewhat smaller than that of the Y9). Like the Huawei Y9, the Y7 is built in glass and metal, although this model also comes in a version with a leather-finished back, which gives it a very elegant look.
Inside the Huawei Y7 there is room for a more restrained processor than that of its older brother: Snapdragon 450 working at a speed of 1.8 GHz. This SoC goes hand in hand with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage (expandable through the use of microSD-type cards up to 512 GB). On a photographic level, the Y7 continues to boast a dual main camera, but with a lower resolution than that of the Huawei Y9. Specifically, it has a 13 megapixel + 2 megapixel camera. On the front there is located (inside the notch) a single 8 megapixel sensor for selfies.
The Huawei Y7 also equips a 4,000 mAh battery, rear fingerprint reader or Android 8.1 Oreo system under EMUI 8.2.
Huawei Y6 2019
We continue to go down the floor, and in the penultimate is the Huawei Y6 2019. At first glance it is the same as the Y7, but with a smaller panel, 6.05 inches with HD + resolution (1,520 x 720 pixels). This terminal also includes a notch in the shape of a drop of water, minimal frames and a version with a rear part finished in leather in which a fingerprint reader is not missing. The Huawei Y6 2019 behaves like a low-mid-range mobile. Its processor is a MediaTeck, accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).
The photographic section is considerably reduced compared to previous models. It comes with a single 13-megapixel main sensor with f / 1.8 aperture, and an 8-megapixel front sensor for selfies. For the rest, the Y6 2019 also equips a smaller battery, 3,020 mAh. One of its advantages over the Y9 or Y7 is that it includes Android 9 Pie as standard under EMUI 9.0.
Huawei Y5 2019
Finally, the Huawei Y5 2019 may be perfect for you if you are looking for a low-end mobile that boasts design and a screen that touches 6 inches. This terminal also has a model with a rear part finished in leather in various colors. It is slightly thicker than its range brothers and somewhat more affordable in terms of construction. The company has used polycarbonate. However, its front part continues to have a notch in the shape of a drop of water and minimal frames.
The panel of the Huawei Y5 2019 has a size of 5.71 inches and an HD + resolution. It is, therefore, the smallest of the house. The same happens with the processor, which is somewhat less powerful than that of its brothers. It houses a MediaTek MT6761 along with 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of internal space (expandable by using microSD-type cards). For the photographic section we have a 13-megapixel main sensor, the same as the Y6, but the camera for selfies drops to 5 megapixels. The included battery is also 3,020 mAh and it is governed by Android 9 Pie under EMUI 9.0. It should be noted that this model does not include a fingerprint reader, so facial recognition takes care of security.
Pricing and availability
At the moment, the only models available to buy at the moment are the Huawei Y7 and Y6. The first can be found in stores such as PC Components at a price of 170 euros. If you are more interested in the Y6, its price on Amazon is 140 euros (with free shipping). If the one you liked is the Huawei Y9, the superior model, you will have no choice but to wait until October, which is when its launch is scheduled. The Y5 should take a little less time, but we don't know its exact arrival date either. The same happens with the prices of both models, they are still unknown.
