Huawei bets on the retractable camera in the mid-range. The Chinese company launched a few days ago the Huawei P Smart Z, its first device with a sliding selfie camera, which incorporated features worthy of a mid-range, with a screen with hardly any frames. Just a few days later, Huawei announces the Y9 Prime 2019. This terminal shares characteristics with the P Smart Z, but comes with a triple main camera and more news.
The truth is that at first glance, especially on the front, we could not distinguish them. They are two very similar devices, with a practically identical design: glass back with curved edges and a double finish. The only difference we see in the camera modules. In the Huawei Y9 Prime we have three main lenses.There is also the fingerprint reader in the center. The front is summarized in a 6.59-inch screen with hardly any frames. We only see a thin bezel at the bottom. The company has decided to eliminate USB C to house a pop-up or retractable camera system. This rises from the upper area to reveal the lens for selfies. In this way, you avoid adding a notch or a frame on top. An interesting detail is that the system is automatic. In this way, the device will lift the module whenever it is necessary.

The main difference between the Huawei Y9 Prime and the P Smart Z is its camera. Here we find a triple lens equipped with artificial intelligence. The main camera maintains a resolution of 16 megapixels. It is followed by a second 8 megapixel sensor, which is responsible for taking wide-angle photographs. Last but not least: a third 2 megapixel camera. This has depth of field, necessary to take photos with a blur effect.
Large battery with fast charging
The new Huawei mobile has a large 6.59-inch LCD panel , with a Full HD + resolution. Inside we find a Kirin 710f processor, accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and storage of 64 or 128 GB. All this with a range of 4,000 mAh, which also has fast charging. It also has the latest version of Android: 9.0 Pie under EMUI 9.0.
Price and availability
At the moment there are no prices for this Y9 Prime of 2019. It is very likely that it is around 300 - 350 euros, since it has some higher benefits than the P Smart Z, which currently costs 280 euros.
Why such a similar model? The company could market this device in other markets where the P Smart Z does not reach. Countries where a triple camera or higher performance is more in demand for the mid-range.
