The last four months of the year are usually marked by the presentation of the latest mid-range and high-end models from the main telephone manufacturers. We saw it a few days ago with the Huawei Nova 5T, a terminal that comes to compete directly with models such as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro or the Realme X2 Pro. Now those from Shenzhen launch a somewhat more austere version than the aforementioned device with the name of Huawei Nova 5z to compete with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Beyond the technical specifications of the mobile phone, its resemblance to the Mate 20 launched by the same company a year ago is what stands out the most at first glance. The differences, however, go beyond some design changes, as we will see below.

Design: legacy of the Huawei Mate 20
In the design section, the company has chosen to play it safe by integrating a chassis very similar to the Mate 20, with the difference of the cameras and the screen, a 6.26-inch screen with Full HD + resolution and IPS technology that comes accompanied by an island-shaped notch.
Another difference that we find with Huawei's high-end is based on the construction materials: plastic versus metal and glass. The rest of the aspects are practically identical, such as the integration of a fingerprint sensor in the back and the transversal lines of the rear case.
Four eyes see more than two
The main novelty of the Huawei Nova 5z is found in its cameras, consisting of four sensors at the back and one at the front. In the latter, the manufacturer chooses to integrate the same sensor as the P30, a 32-megapixel sensor and f / 2.0 focal aperture that supports face unlock functions.
If we move to the rear, the terminal comes loaded with four sensors of 48, 8, 2 and 2 megapixels. While the main sensor has a focal aperture f / 1.8, the rest of the sensors limit its aperture to a somewhat more closed f / 2.4, sensors that, on the other hand, use two macro and wide-angle lenses to capture images of nearby objects and landscape environments.
The complementary 2 megapixel sensor, by the way, comes to replace the functions of a ToF sensor to improve the depth of photographs in portrait mode.
Performance: halfway between the mid-range and the high-end , with Android?
As an alternative to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro that it is, the Huawei Nova 5z opts for a processor that is between the high-end and the mid-range of the company. We are talking about the Kirin 810, which this time comes with 6 and 8 GB of RAM and 64 and 128 GB of storage.
As if this were not enough, it has a 4,000 mAh battery and a 20 W fast charging system. It is accompanied by the typical connections that we can find in the upper mid-range: Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi, USB type C…
And what about the device software? Android 9 Pie under EMUI 9.1 is the version that we find under the chassis of the terminal, although at the moment it is unknown if it will have the Google certification and the services of the North American.
Price and availability of the Huawei Nova 5z
At the moment the presentation of the Nova 5z is limited to China, although in all probability it will end up arriving in Spain in the coming weeks.
