Before we talk about the design and style of these cases, a bit of context about Quentin Obadia. This artist from France specializes in jewelry. His style consists of integrating and merging the best of the different cultures that coexist in the world. It is not the first time that it collaborates with Huawei, it has already done so with the launch of some cases for the company's previous flagship, Huawei P30 Pro. This time it has wanted to repeat the experience of this collaboration and has designed two models for the new Huawei flagship device.
In this collection in particular, the bet has been clear: to combine the typical cultural samples of the West and the East. E l result is two casings with their own name: Crane and Koi. Although they share the same theme, the execution is different, in fact, each case has different protagonists. Crane's main elements are cranes, having one in the foreground and two in the background. In addition, the colors refer to a sunset with a sky that rises in a reddish tone. Regarding the design of this cover, it should be noted that the plumage at the end of the wings is finished in gold.
Koi features the fish that gives this cover its name, a koi. The colors resemble these typical oriental fish and the head is finished in silver in order to differentiate this part from the rest of the animal's body. In addition, Quentin Obadia wanted to refer to one of the great oriental artistic works such as The Great Wave off Kanagawa. It is not a reference that can jump with the naked eye, but if you are familiar with that work you will be able to appreciate the similarity that the waves that serve as the background to this koi have with the work of Kanagawa.
Price and availability
The cases designed by Quentin Obadia for the Huawei P40 Pro are exclusive and cannot be found in stores. The truth is that they will not be sold either, the only way to get them is by participating in the different contests that will be held by Huawei.
