It had been rumored for quite some time and finally the brand makes it official. It was a few hours ago when Huawei presented its first 5G chip called Balong 5000. It does so together with another device that today is proclaimed as the first commercial mobile with 5G. We refer to the Huawei 5G CPE Pro, a terminal about which little is known so far beyond its wireless connections, which are based on the aforementioned 5G Balong chip. The download speeds that it reaches according to the manufacturer exceed 10 times that of the most advanced 4G LTE chips in the world today.
This is the Balong 5000, Huawei's first 5G modem
We have been anticipating it since 2016 and today it is a reality. The first commercial mobile with 5G has reached the market. The modem under which this device works is the Huawei Balong 5000, and the figures achieved in download speeds are impressive.
The data provided by Huawei affirms that it is a device capable of reaching a chilling 4.8 Gbps. This means that in technical data it is capable of downloading at a speed of 600 MB per second, or what is the same, a 1 GB video in two seconds (three according to Huawei for the connection loss ratio). The company also claims that we can play native 8K content without any cuts.
As if this were not enough, Huawei has ensured that in high frequency spectra, the Balong 5000 can exceed 6 Gbps of download; specifically 6.4 Gbps. The conversion to MB gives us results of more than 800 MB per second (812 to be exact), which would undoubtedly exceed the average speed of fiber optic connections in Spain.
Last, but not least, the Huawei Balong 5000 will be compatible with the rest of the connection protocols on the market (2G, 3G, 4G). Also, the energy efficiency of the chip will help to greatly reduce the energy impact of the connection modem on the devices that integrate it. It should also be noted that the latency of the modem in question has been reduced compared to previous protocols. Although Huawei has not set aside technical data in this regard, it is expected that the connection to the network through it will be much faster and almost instantaneous. We will have to wait for the Mobile World Congress this year, where it is expected that more details of the two devices, both phone and chip, will be given. Will it reach the Huawei P30? We will see.
