After many rumors and leaks, Huawei is finally launching its new Nova series, consisting of the Huawei Nova 5 and the Huawei Nova 5 Pro. Although both terminals are intended for the Asian market, the new proposal of the Chinese brand predicts what other phones aimed at the western market will bring. Four cameras, a fast charge of no less than 40 W and a renewed processor are some of the features that the Nova 5 bring behind them. Will they be enough to duel with models like the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro? We see it.
Design inspired by the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro
The reuse of designs by manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Huawei is a practice that we have seen since the beginnings of mobile telephony. It was not going to be any different with the new Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro.
The new Huawei range has the same design as the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro launched during the month of February. Notch in the shape of a drop located in the bisector of the screen and a ratio that exceeds 90% of use of the surface, with a design made of metal and glass and green and red colors whose tone varies depending on the incidence of light.
As far as the screen is concerned, it uses a 6.39-inch panel with Full HD resolution and OLED technology. The latter also has a fingerprint sensor under the chassis.
Brand new processor and fast charging: Kirin 810 and 40 W
For the first time in 2019 Huawei has decided to present a new processor together with a model that is assumed to be intended for the upper middle range. Specifically, the Kirin 810, a model that assembles the Huawei Nova 5 whose specifications are made up of two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.27 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.88 GHz manufactured in no less than 7 nanometers.
The latter is also accompanied by a Mali-G52 GPU, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The Huawei Nova 5 Pro, for its part, has a Kirin 980 processor along with 8 GB of RAM and 128 and 256 GB of internal storage.
But if there is something that deserves a separate mention that is the fast charge, of no less than 40 W in both cases. 50% in 15 minutes and 85% in just 30 minutes are the figures that the company has provided during the presentation of the two terminals. The battery capacity in both cases is 3,500 mAh.
Four cameras that inherit from the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro
In the photographic section there are few surprises that we find compared to other models of the brand.
Both the Huawei Nova 5 and the Nova 5 Pro have four cameras that use four 48, 16, 2 and 2 megapixel sensors with 117ยบ wide angle, telephoto and macro lenses and focal aperture f / 1.4, f / 2.4, f /2.2 and f / 2.2. The configuration is similar to that of the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro, so we do not expect surprises in this regard.
If we move to the front, it consists of a single 32 megapixel sensor with an f / 2.0 focal aperture. The same as the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.
Price and availability of the Huawei Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro
As we have advanced at the beginning of the article, the Nova series has traditionally been destined for the western market, so its arrival in Spain and other European countries is not expected, at least with the original name. In China, it will start to be available from June 28.
And the price? It has not yet been provided by Huawei. We will update the article as soon as the brand confirms this information in the official presentation in China.
