After several weeks of waiting, Huawei has finally deigned to distribute several test units of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro to several of the most important technology media in the country. The doubt about the compatibility of the terminal with Google Services is sown. Will we be able to install applications such as Google Play, WhatsApp or Google Maps and, ultimately, applications that depend on the Google API in the new member of the Mate family?
The answer is yes, although the process to get there is quite arduous. We have had the opportunity to test the terminal in hand and this time we will show you how to proceed step by step with the installation of Google Services without resorting to root .
What do I need to install Google Services on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro
The previous steps to install Google Services are simple, although somewhat convoluted. Since we will use an external application, the first thing we will have to do is activate the installation permissions from external sources through the Security section in Settings.
Next we will need to have an external memory to download the necessary installation files, which can be a USB memory or a memory card.
Now we will only have to download the files from the following link provided by the EloyGomezTV YouTube channel. It is advisable to download these same files through a computer and later transfer them to the external memory, not without first unzipping the ZIP file from the original download.
With everything ready, we will only have to connect the memory to the Huawei Mate 30 or Mate 30 Pro and proceed with the steps that we will detail below.
Steps to install Google applications on the Huawei Mate 30 and 30 Pro
Once we have connected the memory card or USB stick via adapter to the phone, the next step is to access its content through Huawei's file explorer and open the file com.lzplay.helper.apk that we can find in the folder NECESSARY within GAPPS.
Make a backup of the LZPlay application
After installing the APK file on the phone, the next step that we will have to carry out is based on making a backup copy of the application that contains the APK in question on the external memory. As simple as going to the Backup and restoration section in System Settings and updates.
Before proceeding with the data copy, it is very important to select the external storage (memory card or USB) when EMUI asks us about the destination of the restoration.
Next we will uncheck the System Settings option and click on the Applications and data option to then select the application with Chinese characters that we have just installed. After this we will click on Backup and we will indicate the following text string when the wizard requires a password to tape the data:
- a12345678
Replace the backup files with the files in the NECESSARY folder
If everything has gone smoothly, it is most likely that we will find a folder with the name of Huawei inside the external storage. Inside this folder we will find another folder with the name of Backup which we will have to access to replace some of the files that are inside.
Returning to the GAPPS folder that we have downloaded, we will access the NECESSARY folder, where we will select the following files to copy them:
- info.xml
- com.lzplay.helper.apk
Finally we will paste and replace both records in the following location within the Huawei / Backup folder:
- Huawei Mate 30 Pro / backupFiles1 / folder-with-the-date-of-the-copy /
Reset the backup on the Huawei Mate 30
The next logical step is based on restoring the backup in the internal memory of the mobile. How? Performing the reverse process through the Backup and Restore settings.
To do this, we will restore the copy we just made by accessing the aforementioned section again by entering the password indicated in the previous step (a12345678). Of course, the restore destination will have to be made to internal memory from external memory.
And install Google Services manually
We have everything ready to install Google Services on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. To do this, we will open the LZPlay application that will be displayed with Chinese characters on the Android Desktop.
Before clicking on the installation button, after accepting the terms and conditions of use, we will have to return to the content of the GAPPS folder hosted on the external memory; more specifically to the EMUI 9.1.1 Google Pack folder.
Inside this folder we can see several executable files. Before proceeding with its installation, we will return to the LZPlay application and now we will accept the installation of Google Services.
Again we will have to refer to the EMUI 9.1.1 Google Pack folder and install all the services in the order in which they are shown, that is, first the first application, secondly the second and so on until we reach the last service. And that's it, we will have all the Google Services available at our disposal.
The Play Store closes when I install an application, what do I do?
When downloading and installing applications from the Play Store, it is very likely that the store will suffer forced closures. Fortunately, the installation process will continue and the applications will start to install normally on the phone.
Otherwise, it is recommended to start the download again by opening the application in question. We can also erase the data from the Play Store through the Applications section within Settings. In the Storage option we can delete both the cache and the application data, something that should solve, to a greater or lesser extent, the problem of downloads from the Play Store, in the absence of a simpler solution.
